Bowling action: Brett Lee vs Sabir Khan

Sabir Khan, India u19 fast bowler from Bihar considers Brett Lee his idol, has also modelled his bowling action on him, copies his running style and action, also bowls quite for his good. Above video clip from his SM account shows the comparison between the two and both look quite similar, not exactly absolute copy but still similar.

I had asked in McGrath thread too, asking here too. Their actions are similar but what makes them completely different from each other. Both are knee dominant midway also called semi-side on bowlers but still there is a difference that Sabir couldn't copy.  Sabir probably thinks he is bowling like Brett Lee though to some extent but still is missing one of the most important part of Brett Lee's action. Can anyone here assess what it is?

Both are front on mixed yes,as evident from their back leg and non bowling arm but as far as i have observed Lee's front leg is braced while Sabir's not

Sabir is also braced but even if it's not, it doesn't really make them completely different. Lets see what others say. I want some more people to observe it.

It is quite difficult to observe from this angle but as my observation Sabir front foot is not braced perhaps from side view i will get a clear picture but i have made another observation if you see my second post

Braced, non-braced isn't making their action type different. It's just a flaw. It doesn't decide their action type.

Another thing. No, their action is semi-side or midway action, not mixed. Mixed action was what Nagarkoti had. Now he has changed it and became side on after back injury.

Sabir Khan is jumping higher, almost like Zaheer Khan, while BL is using the upper body, shoulders to generate pace, this young kid is thinking bending after the ball is released will get more pace. BL is more side-on than SK.

By front on mixed i was saying his lower half is front on while his non bowling arm comes across his head like side on bowlers,Both of them are front on mixed

@rkt.india
what about the lateral flexion on Sabir's action while releasing the ball?do you observe that ,i see there is a definite lateral flexion, his action will create problems for him his shoulder s and hip aren't at sync

Brett Lee has high jump too. Others are all minor differences but there is one big difference. I will post a screenshot from front to point out. This difference just completely changes their bowling styles and is the biggest thing Sabir has failed to grasp from Lee and it may also limit his pace ceiling. Though he is already pretty quick.

Yes, there is lateral flexion. That is a technical flaw as shown in this screenshot, he is delivering the ball over his left leg. There is a bend in his left back.  This issue is also happening because of the thing I told you in DM.

Isn't that duty of a bowling coach to rectify actions at this raw age where moulding actions are easy than doing it in late 20s,career threatening injuries happen due to lack of proper bio mechanics guidance and as you have said why don't they ask these younh cricketers to make minor changes to enhance their speeds by a yard or two or these guys don't have acess to quality bio mechanics experts

Look how Brett Lee is clearing his left arm before delivering the ball.   Sabir is almost blinded there.

He will struggle for accuracy.

These are common issues and can be rectified at any age. Don't know how many Indian coaches work on these things.  Even Arjun Tendulkar has been under some supposedly great coach but issues have still been there.

But there is something else that differentiates their bowling style. These technical issues aside.

Arm is not as delayed as lee .his action looks a bit like dinda as well.

He doesn't have that high a jump. Dinda's action is quite different.

It's doesnt look much like Lee either.Sreesanth copied Donald , Irfan copied Wasim and Salvi copied Mcgrath .

Lee's action is quite hard to copy due to the delayed actuation of his foot, hips and shoulder .Most bowlers dont have the strength to hold back the momentum of their body .

Sreesanth copied Dennis Lillie. I can say Sabir is much stronger than Brett Lee was at the same age. Check the above pictures of Sabir and Lee. Sabir has actually done quite a good job of copying Lee but couldn't grasp the main thing made Lee different than many other knee dominant bowlers. The thing is Brett Lee is a slinger, Sabir isn't. Sabir could not get that difference. Position of the bowling hand just before backfoot landing defines whether you are a slinger or not. Lee's bowling hand in the pic above is at his trousers' pocket which means he is a slinger. Sabir did not observe that. It looks a little thing but makes a huge difference. If the bowling hand before landing is at or near the pocket of the trouser, then the bowler is a slinger. Sabir isn't taking his bowling hand that low, so not able to copy him completely.
