chewy Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 People calling for new faces, but India already had three relatively new players in the XI. All coming through years of investment and A tours. I remember after 2011 fiasco, all these committees setup and revamping Ranji pitches. Well 10 years on with the richest cricket board and still not won anything 9 away series in SENA Won 1 Lost 8 It just seems cultural behaviour and leadership from BCCI to team captain has just been inferior to England or Australia. There is no consequences for some mediocrity including the many younger faces coming through
nevada Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 The young ones did okay. Shaw made as many runs as Rahane, Kohli and Pujara managed to make together. Vihai outscored all 3 combined. Ditto for Mayank who was was the top scorer as well,.made 25% of the team total and missed double figures by a whisker(or by a mile, given the context of the match).
Sandeep99 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Mayank batted 40 out if 120 balls... Most gutsy of all batsmen out there Lone Wolf 1

Sandeep99 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 India really needs to develop some good middle order batsmen. Rahane is past his expiry date and Pujara is on his last legs as well. There needs to be a transition shortly.
Sandeep99 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 (edited) The scars maybe too deep now to even think of a comeback. But one way to at least attempt is by bringing in fresh faces like Gill, Pant who can play freely without much to worry about. Remember how Mayank played last tour? Lone Wolf Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 (edited) I am tilted towards bringing in exciting stroke makers in this lineup. Kishan & Pant both need to be drafted in along with Gill. Mayank (Give him the longer rope.. Opening is tough) Kishan (Potential Warner & a left hander) Gill Kohli Rahul Vihari/Rohit Pant (wk) The team lacks players who are good players of horizontal bat strokes. Even when the bowling is top notch this team can attack & bash both Spin & pace. Left right combos need to be established asap. Edited December 19, 2020 by Lone Wolf
