Is mix of aggression and defense currenly best for this batting line up?

Ideally team would want to have 3-4 attacking batsmen at top averaging 45+.

 

But that doesn't happen all the time.

 

Considering resources we have, should Indian captain try to mix batting positions according to situation to ensure that momentum remains with the batting side.

 

Jadeja and Pant to remain floater to ensure quick runs and left right combo. Also trust them if even defensive batting is needed.

 

No need to go to extreme and drop all defensive batsmen. But shouldn't have 3-4 back to back defensive batsmen at consecutive positions either.

yeah using floaters is underrated in test cricket. maybe teams think its too gimmicky and not "proper cricket", but it can have great tactical value

 

I think Quinton de kok floats into top order whenever possible, even opened in a match in india. It won't work this well everytime like today, but teams should think of it as  a legitimate tactic

I don't think that much change is good either. Like asking no 6 to open the innings.

 

But yeah, instead of fixing positions, moving it 1 places up/down might work for the current team.
