England were praising KP when he was pulling off those shots but the moment they failed he was also crucified.

It depends on the situation too.  India was already comfortably placed, and as @New guy pointed out, striving to blunt the Anderson threat was a tactically brilliant move.  If, at that stage, the team was still 40 runs behind, it would've been a blunder.  The young man has great situational awareness.
