Global.Baba
Shouldn’t a bowler with good skills make things happen on any pitch? Hypothetically speaking and I know it is not even a contest but If Cummins needs bouncy pitches to be effective then why do we write off someone like say Sakariya for doing well on slow pitches. I am not going by today’s performance by fast bowlers because anyone can have a bad day individually or collectively but I don’t get this excuse. Sure a good batsman who scores 50(25) on a flat pitch should be able to score a 50(35) type knock on a relatively tougher pitch but why are fast bowlers not able to adapt? If the avg (not par) score on a certain pitch is say 180, 4 overs for 36 = avg performance. 4 overs for 32 would be an above avg performance If the avg (not par) score on a certain pitch is say 140, 4 overs for 28 = avg performance. 4 overs for 24 would be an above avg performance 4 for 28 is not a better performance than 4 for 36 and vice versa Similarly for batsmen. Random numbers like 50 off 25 v 50 off 35 are just based on expectations. Only over the long run with a larger sample size, can we take a call looking at numbers (relatively speaking)
rkt.india
Lack of accurate bowling is the biggest problem.

I don't think there can be a bad pitch for T20 (unless the pitch is actually dangerous to play, with uneven bounce etc) In test matches, bad pitches can result in boring draws or farcical 2 day matches like in recent series and also makes Toss extremely important. In ODIs, bad pitches can result in 100 over non-stop bashing which can be very tiring. But a T20 game is too short to be affected by these differences. Even a "bad pitch" can result in entertaining T20 match if both the teams have proper quality players

On topic though I like the fact that there is a place for Cummins/Starc or a Fizz type bowler or even a Chahar/Bhuvi type swing bowler in T20 format. However it’s not anymore about who is fast and who is a trundler, there are only good bowlers and bad ones.
