15 overs? Had only Ashwin as company. Others didnt play as many balls he did. They were more reliable?

Ashwin has the ability to stay. He also played a daft shot right after Pant's dismissal.  Shami has added 111 runs for 10th wicket at Lords with Bhuvi. He cannot automatically presume India will collapse in no time. He has to talk to non striker and farm the strike. That is an art.  He pretty much did the same in 2nd test.  Waltzing down against steaming Rabada and throwing away. Those kind of shots don't make him reliable.

that Shami-Bhuvi partnership was on a patta. You have to factor in conditions etc. Besides he was trying for runs too for an outside chance of win.Much better than tuk tuk and watching others fall.

Was yesterday not a 'crunch' situation? Sometimes it will work, sometimes not. No approach has 100% success rate.

Only difference is yesterday he didn't waltz down against the bowler right of the bat. It was clear that he has been spoken to.

I am talking of overall approach. One shot or the other can be avoided/added. He's still in learning phase.

By the same token,I can say someone in previous TM asked him to step out to counter swing as he wasnt doing it in Aus.

Yes. He has to give respect to the bowling at times. No fancy reverse sweep against fast bowlers just because he can do.
