Serpico Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Shreyas Iyer's century and fifty in his debut Test, the only time an Indian batter has done so, has turned the spotlight squarely on Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara as full-time captain Virat Kohli returns for the Mumbai Test next week. India's batting coach, Vikram Rathour, however, has thrown his weight behind the two veteran batters without giving any hints into whether Iyer will be retained for the next Test. Rathour was specifically asked about how much of a concern the returns from the "two senior cricketers" have been. "Of course we want our top order to contribute, but the cricketers you mentioned have played 80 and 90 Test matches so they have the experience," Rathour said. "Of course to play that many games they must have done well for us. I understand both of them are going through a lean phase but they have played very very important knocks for us in the past, and we are pretty sure they will come back and play more important knocks for our team in the future as well." Rathour was asked how many Tests can be given even to proven performers if the runs are not coming. I don't think we can put a number to that," Rathour said. "That really depends on the situation the team is in, and what the team requires." rollingstoned 1
GautiMaan Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Not the number of times "of course" has been used Of course,we will not select any youngsters who will threaten brand value of Kohli, Of course the fans are idiots who cannot question us. Sandeep99, nevada, raki05 and 1 other 4

asterix Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 (edited) No matter how much they rally around Puji/Rahane, their will be lots of criticism if both play in the next match… They might wriggle out of the situation by dropping Mayank. I hope both fail again if they have play in the next match. Their days are over. For long both have blocked the entry of new talents… There’s lots of pressure to retain both of them because if any of them goes out, it’ll be end of their pathetic careers. They won’t come back again. Hence this performance by Iyer has put a spanner in their whole setup. Both will also fail badly in the next test series against Bangladesh. Their time is up and they know it but because both are currently so pathetic, they’ve to use various means to hang in their and keep harming the Indian cricket. Frustrated Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Yes Mr.Rathore. They will play important knocks in the future. But unfortunately, no one lives in the future. We all live in the present. First, talk about the present. raki05 and asterix 2

Pujara and rahane have not be doing a tremendous job in recent days and they have to understand that only best performers can represent Indian 11. it is not seniority or experience that counts , it is the FORM. batting is a Skill where some days you rock and some days you dont. if you are not in indian 11 , it does not mean you are not great , you can always score big in ranji and make a come back. it is not the end of the road. hit 3 centuries in domestic cricket and come back. i see some serious issues in their batting and i am convinced that they should not be in Indian 11 for tests now. asterix and express bowling 2
