Comparing the ER of spin bowlers two different periods

 

During 2018/19 period our ER was second best. Also  we had Eight 4fers and 3 fifers. Look at our record since 2020.  Our ER is the worst among all the major countries. Zero 4fer, Zero 5fer. Another thing during 2018/19 lot of those 4fers/5fers came overseas. That is a drastic regression. 

 

 

 

Individual bowlers performance of spinners during that period.   One thing is common.  Jadeja has the best Economy rate which underlines his defensive bowling skills despite not picking wickets like Kuldeep. Even Kedar was not that expensive during that period complementing Kulcha.

Sample is low. I must say since we hardly played any ODIs since 2020. But there is a pattern that we cannot ignore. Our spin bowling performance is the worst in the world in One dayers.

we need to ditch spin altogether in all likelihood in terms of "pure" bowlers. play only ARs like sundar, jaddu, and axar. and no other spinners. cupboard is so bare that even old mother hubbard would be embarrassed.

Why would you focus on ER when the data on bowling you have used showed bowling average having doubled - from 29.5 earlier to 58.5 now.

 

I said this earlier when KulCha was getting derailed (from beginning of 2019 as we wanted runs from our bowlers) that our LOI bowling will suffer heavily. Kuldeep had his limitations but the then TM left him to suffer on his own. Now the middle overs bowling is worse than Associate teams.

 

More pain ahead as the whole project Ashwin has been shown to be hollow in pitches that had some turn.

all of the spinners on current tour are poor and not really that adept with bat. ashwin + jayant (in ODIs, not FC/tests) are bowlers who can bat and and chahal  is a zero. since our spin threat is zilch, might as well as play bowlers who do genuinely bat: Axar, Sundar, and maybe Jaddu.

Going back to Chahal and Ashwin has been among the worst decisions in our cricket. Should have backed Chahar, who can hold his bat, or go to Markande. Heck even Murugan Gopal or Ashwin are not a bad pick. Likewise instead of Ashwin, better to have picked any other SLA. But then that's not giving respect to our seniors.

 Novelty factor of Kulcha worn out Plus much better batting by overseas batsmen in recent times .In fact i would say indian batsmen are the worst players of spin now.
