Wonder why Gujarat just gave up after their first bid.. They should have propped it up to 50L+ just to see how much pocket money MI are willing to pay Sachin baby (I mean Tendulkar Junior)

First of all, it was a joke by GT, second, it had a purse of only 30-35L remaining iirc

I know. But they could have just played along for a little longer. Not sure how much they had in the purse though

One time is ok as it was a joke … Note that IPL auction is serious matter so if you overdo it, it can backfire

Not sure what's the big deal here.. An upcoming player as a backup in the squad for 50L wouldn't hurt.. That's why MI have him in the squad as well despite having no intention to play him in the XI

In IPL, Arjun Tendulkar is kept by MI as a token of continued appreciation for (and connection with) Tendulkar, which is why other teams do not go for him either (as they are all doing it for Tendulkar not for the player, who is unlikely to be played by any team any time soon)

It makes zero sense for any franchise to engage in an extended bid for him as it could be perceived as “undiplomatic”. Franchises also do not want to come across as taking advantage of other franchises and that to on such a small matter

Because GT did it once (maybe also related to MI spoiling GT’s plans to get Kishan), it is seen as a joke

Gujarat Titans expected XI if all fit and available:-

Jason Roy

Shubhman Gill

Matthew Wade(wkt)

Vijay Shankar/Gurkeerat Mann

Hardik Pandya(c)

Rahul Tewatia

Rashid Khan

Krishnapal Gowtham/Sai Kishore

Lockie Ferguson

Mohammad Shami

???

Note that there is no Gowtham in GT

PS GT has many options so it can have a variety of combination esp. once it decides to go with 2 or 3 overseas bowlers (its strength)

I would prefer it to start with (excluding Aus players as they could be unavailable during the first week or so): Saha, Roy, Gill, SDP, Abhinav, Drakes/Miller, Tewatia, Rashid, Shami, Lockie/Joseph, and Yash Dayal/Sal Kishore/Jayant

If Shankar is played, it can play 3 overseas bowlers: Saha, Roy, Gill, Shankar, SDP, Abhinav, Tewatia, Rashid, Shami, Joseph/Noor, and Lockie
