stokes as test cricketer is better than most of our middle order in the recent past, not just rahane. he adds value through his batting, bowling and fielding.

Stokes - 143, 5000+ runs

Rahane - 140, 4900 runs

Ofcourse he has been. The guy is carrying a fragile batting lineup, in a good team, he would have batted at 6 and that average would have been slightly better.

 

Still even as pure batsman only, he has been on par with Rahane.
