Powerplay numbers of batters in Last 3 years

Dubai 6 PM starting matches are just the biggest mismatch in terms of conditions. It is a 170 runs pitch batting first and 210 runs pitch batting second after just a bit of dew.

Yes we cannot use that as an example to prop up anyone's batting. We all know how Marsh batted in Bangladesh. Looked clueless.  Even in warm up game bamboozled by aging Ashwin. Just had a bit of dew ball nicely coming on. Mitchell, Neesham, Marsh all became beasts. I know Warner doesn't need dew. But these guys definitely  were aided by dew conditions.

LOL there are tons of players waiting in the wings - Tewatia, Thakur, Chahar, Sundar and I can keep going on and on.

These guys bat WAY better than Bhuvi, Chahal, Ashwin, Harshal etc.

So don't give me this BS that team doesn't have "luxury".

It's all about selection. No one is asking Rohit to sacrifice and become a slogger. He has to become a slogger because he picks such a crap side to be on the safe side.

He knows that if he picks Siraj or Umran there's a chance they will go for 50 runs in 4 overs with their pace and wicket taking length. So it's "safer" to pick an experienced Bhuvi, Chahal, Harshal or Ashwin so he can come out looking good like that Pak Super 4 game where it went to the final over but if you see the actual game we lost in the 14th over itself once Nawaz went nuts and scored at 200+ SR.

So please stop this BS as if Rohit is making a grand sacrifice. He could have filled the whole side with all rounders if he wanted to but he didn't.

Siraj is all likelihood will play if Shamis not backed, He is not exactly a great batsman either. Bhuvi will play. If you think Bhuvi will be dropped by any captain then you are living in lala land. Not just Rohit, Dhoni or any captain.  Arshdeep will play for his death bowling. He hasn't done badly either with new ball. Chahal is another one t o play.  Only player Chahar can replace is Bhuvi not Siraj or even Shami.  Thakur can replace a spinner at best Axar or Ashwin. That way you  go with 4+1. At best you can add Thakur to this list. You still have 4 dead woods down the order.  For argument sake you can even bat Venky Iyer at 10, Shivam Dube at 11. That is not practical.

you miss my whole point.

Rohit Sharma as a captain has the luxury and choice to pick who he wants in the team.

If he decides to pick Sundar instead of Axar/Ashwin or Thakur instead of Harshal or Siraj in place of Bumrah, it's up to him to make the decision.

It's not hard to come up with a combination that makes sense. Even the sad selection of not having a single left hander in the batting line up, that's all on Rohit as a captain.

If Shaheen Afridi or a Marco Jansen kills us because of the lack of left hander in the line up, then it's Captain's fault for creating this vulnerability. Take Venky Iyer instead of KL Rahul if Pant/Kishan are not good enough - it's not like there are no openers or all rounders out there.

Or take Tewatia instead of Chahal to boost batting and left hander.

It's about taking calculated risks. That's the whole point of captaincy and gamesmanship.

So these arguments of "cupboard is bare", "Rohit doesn't have luxury", "Rohit is making a sacrifice trying to score quick" - this is all BS.

It's simply him trying to do the same thing Kohli did and Dhoni did once he lost Yuvraj, Gambhir and Raina... Play it "safe" and play "percentage cricket". This works in ODI's in friendly conditions but fails in T20 which explains why we never won a single T20 WC since 2007 and ODI WC since 2011.

Pant, Thakur, Sundar, Siraj won us against Australia in Australia in the tough test series and none of them are in the team now. Sure, Siraj will probably make it in the end but he has zero T20 practice leading up to the world cup, it was fully hogged by Harshal and Avesh Khan all this time.

Pathetic fans like you trying to cover up Rohit and Dravid's miserable planning is what saddens me the most. They need to be held accountable.

Unfortunately we can play only XI players. This is why it is easy to throw around names.   Sundar permanently injured. Also his batting  in T20 is not upto mark. Pant has a huge sample size where we can kinda tell why he fails. Blindly backing him hoping he will turn around is utterly foolish.  Sure you can do. But not when you are  going to world cup. Him being left hander provides zero advantage as opposition can always use a right arm bowler to nail him. Kishan was given a very long run more than any other opener. His tuk tuk cricket completely cost his place. In fact Rohit backed him fully since he is a Mumbai India. That experiment failed. We can keep adding players Tewatia, Subhman Gill, Patidar, Samson, Prithvi shaw, Ruturaj..  At the end of the day only XI can play.   In T20 gelling and roles are very important. You cannot randomly assemble a team and expect them to win.  Shane watson pretty much said the same thing about Austarlia after they were brutalized by England. He said to Nasser Hussain "Australia doesn't play as a team. so they don't gel much"   Luckily they won pretty much every single toss after that which helped them win the world T20. Don't say they planned for 5 years to achieve that. It happened accidentally. England was a far superior team than Australia and New zealand. They didn't win. Why? 1)Moshin Khan 2) Patidar 3) Bishnoi  would have been my picks They wrongly backed this blue eyed boy Avesh khan.  India has tons of talent. Batting talent, bowling talent. But from T20 perspective Indians are not ready to play certain roles. Apart from DK not a single Indian player could finish like foreign players.  Tewatia cameos were aided by David Miller and Rashid Khan big time. When we back a player there has to be some logic to it. We cannot keep trying everyone for this garbage format.  When i say Moshin Khan i can say, 1) he can be fast  2) can bowl hard length 3) he can swing,  4) he can extract bounce.  We need some justification.  Then back.  Patidar he pulls the ball well. Plays spin very well. Maintains high strike rate as MO. He is a proper batsman Not tully baaz like Asif Ali.

Pak have kinda stumbled on a way round the slow rate of their openers by promoting Nawaz and Shadab, even if they score brisk 20 to 30... it adds depth to the batting, and Asif can come in and slog at the end. Ultimately the bolwing attack means they are generally not chasing huge scores, nor do they need to set huge targets

Seems like a fool proof template. They are the worst in the worlst in terms of power play. But massively offset by late order hitting and their death bowling.
