so is the act of pointing something to the umpire itself wrong or doing it more than once wrong? so you are saying Virat shouldn't point out a wide or no ball to the umpire because he did last game, but its totally fine for another person to do it because he hasn't recently?

In the heat of the moment, it is understandable. Habitually doing it to form a pattern is not right … We see that in IPL too

The replay could be interpreted as an attempt at deception from Kohli, given that Arshdeep's throw from the deep passed by his right hand at the same moment that he motioned a relay throw. ESPNcricinfo understands that the ruling, which needs to be made by the umpires in real time, is about the attempt to deceive the batters, rather than them actually being deceived.

 

He was out of field of view of the  batter but he could not have known that. He was probably replaying what he would have done had he got the ball, not trying to actively mislead the batsman  if anything thisbwould have egged on the batter tk run harder. 

 

But the act of deception is what is the problem.
