Cricket Tragic Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Better to have someone who can bowl but can't bat/field than someone who can't do anything.
Old guy Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Better to have someone who can bowl but can't bat/field than someone who can't do anything. hmm we are not talking abt jaddu u know irfan can do well at end by hitting some sixes and the guy who he is replacing he has similar stats (since his come back in australia)
Crookbond Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Better to have someone who can bowl but can't bat/field than someone who can't do anything. +1 Munaf for ODIs B->
someone Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 hmm we are not talking abt jaddu u know irfan can do well at end by hitting some sixes and the guy who he is replacing he has similar stats (since his come back in australia) Nope. Getting Irfan back only shows how backwards mentality are the selectors or his supporters. He has done absolutely nothing to prove he deserves a call up. And I am everybody agrees that do deserve a call up, you need to do well in domestic matches. At least, Jadeja or Vinay Kumar have shown that consistently and thus they will still always be contention. While Pathan got the selection this time, just for his name and thus his unjustified hype as the next Kapil Dev.

Lord Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 in ODIs today u need to be decent in ur 2nd skill too.so Munaf is out of the question.

Lord Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 What if you have no skill though? IP is a bits and pieces player. Not suited to the needs of the team. hes a bowler who can bat n field decently
Dravid_TheWall Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 hes a bowler who can bat n field decently Too hit and miss for me.
Old guy Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Too hit and miss for me. love the deliberate irony in ur posts :two_thumbs_up:
Lord Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Too hit and miss for me. thats true for our every bowler.atleast he has 2nd string to the bow
Dravid_TheWall Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 love the deliberate irony in ur posts :two_thumbs_up: :giggle:
Dravid_TheWall Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 thats true for our every bowler.atleast he has 2nd string to the bow Well basically I only see him as a T20 specialist but then when I realised how poor his economy was in T20 I even started to doubt that. He was one of the most expensive bowlers in IPL 2010. Not sure about last year. I would MAYBE play him at 7 but never a specialist bowler. But I always prefer a better batsmen then a bowler at 7 so essentially I wouldn't choose him.
jairamesh Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Behold Irfan is back again. Not selected initially and now gets in for someone who shouldn't have selected anyways. more and more, the IPL seems to be driving the Indian selections. I won't be surprised if soon the politics and marketing of IPL drive the Indian national team selections.
rkt.india Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Munaf was very very good last year and praveen is easily a better odi bowler than pathan. Irfan is better than PK in terms of batting and their bowling is comparable. Irfan has better record as a bowler.
Old guy Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Whos gonna do the Wickut taking brah ... ? :hmmm: not the fifth bowler.. if u need wickets then ur main 4 bowlers should be more likely to pick wickets not saying he is supposed to go wicket less but keep in mind the guy he is replacing
Guest Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 not the fifth bowler.. if u need wickets then ur main 4 bowlers should be more likely to pick wickets not saying he is supposed to go wicket less but keep in mind the guy he is replacing He is opening bowler in the disguise of 5th bowler :phehehe:
