Wins and losses are one dimension of cricket ... A good performance is another dimension. For e.g. Sachin's knock against Pak in 1999 . While India did not win that game, it is still a knock that can be appreciated for its quality/situation (the WK missed a stumping) ... In NZ, Eng lost by 1 run, but that does not take away the good performances of its players in that game ... In 2007 ODI WC, Malinga took 4 wickets in 4 balls iirc v SA, which won the game. However, Malinga's performance is still appreciated ... On the other hand, there is Lara's 150 odd v Aus, which won WI that game, is a performance that its fans can enjoy at multiple levels (and also puts that knock at a relatively higher level much like Count's own performances in test wins in Aus) ... Like shades of colors, there are various shades of performances. There is no just black or white. 

 

If people are merely watching cricket for wins/losses, they are missing the point.
