Exactly, it's a waste. The best they could do is make it an under 23 tournament like in football.

No they don't, of course they win more than us but still. Then there's the fact that tests is indeed the ultimate form of the game - no matter what happens a test series win would be more prized in places like SA/Oz/Eng & of course India.

Australia, England might not care since their countries win tons of medals anyway. But sub continent countries will definitely care. I think bangla has never won an Olympic medal before. Pakistan didn't win since 1992 (something about this year). Sri lanka i guess won one in 90s and thats it. A medal will be huge for the players within their countries. For india, a Gold will be huge since we barely win one gold per each edition. Players like Gill, Pant etc would want to win a Gold to set themselves apart from yesteryear legends.

 

Definitely a mini asia cup in LA. If NZ also takes it seriously, then a competitive final is also possible
