Most indian discourse is around the toss and how the conditions favoured the team batting second and bad luck.
Rohit at the toss was very clear however “ That he would have batted, much like the semi final”.

What are Sanjay and co on about?

Then he would bat second. At the toss, we def. Would have batted last had he lost toss. Haha

It isn't bad luck given we played on similar dry tracks throughout the tournament but if the ICC/BCCI specifically mandated this kind of track without TM knowledge then yes you could argue toss played the biggest part! Any way throwing his wicket away was RGS' choice, then not keeping slips to spinners or pacers in search of wickets - all of that points to weak leadership & mindset :hitler:

Ind vs Pak game was played at the same ground. Though on a different pitch.  In that game, Rohit opted to field first (rightly so).   He knew ahmedabad pitch (no matter which one is picked) usually favours the chasing team.  Maybe the pressure of playing a Final match against the 5 time World Champ brings out something else.   I m not sure?   Did Rohit really say that he would hv batted 1st if he won the toss?  Or was it just a smokescreen?

Yeah only reason he thought that could be the old school mindset of putting runs on board in a final, so pressure will be on chasing side but actually you are supposed to be doing what's best according to conditions and you are supposed to handle the pressure of chasing.

On a dry, slow wicket, you always bowl first as spinners will get more purchase and batting side will not know what a good total is and sometimes they may try too hard and end up falling short. Also if there is dew under lights, it will make batting quite easy.

In any case, Aus won the toss, so it was not Indian team's decision to make.
