Stubbs won't play 1st game...  Reckon Wiaan Mulder will get a shot in 1st test. 

Going with only 4 bowlers with a rookie in Coetzee (who I think could be most dangerous for Indians) They'd need someone like Mulder

Bavuma not playing in White Ball Matches, that's a massive disadvantage to India. 

 

He's playing in Tests where he usually performs well done the lower order like he did in the last series against India 2021.

 

Should have been a 3 Match Test series. Anyway would be an exciting series in South African conditions in front of their crowds.

African crowd is rowdy...  That Covid series really was a shame.

 

Atmosphere in Joburg & Capetown & boxing day test in Centurion would be tasty. 

 

Even LOIs in main cities like Durban would be electric. 

Bull ring is always buzzing.

Hmmm.... In that case they will go with Ngidi...... Stubbs is a batsman, Ngidi a bowler. Wiaan is not good enough for tests in either. Like a Stoinis....

Toss will be critical in Centurion than in Newlands....  Pitch really quickens up as Sun beats down on it. 

Day 1 batting is easiest. 

Kela & Mayank won us that test on day 1.

 

SA have lost only 2 games there... 

Vs Aus in 2014.. Johnson show

& India in 2021..  Kela Shami Mayank the heroes

Mulder played last time as well in 1st game..  Playing Ngidi will shorten the batting. 

Would be a 50-50 call. 

 

Thank god we have a fit Jaddu this time.  Only format where he is useful.

I agree with the white ball series score

test i am a bit unsure. There are no draws in saf. We might even win 2-0. Or lose 2-0. KL rahul has to play at no 5 instead of iyer. Also most importantly we have to win the toss.. last time inspite of winning all tosses we lost 2-1.

Toss will matter only in Centurion...  Batting last there when Pitch quickens up & with indentations is a nightmare. 

Safe to say the side which wins the toss has a huge advantage. 

Newlands is more even for both sides. 

India has never won there & last 2 times we were unable to defend & in 2018 unable to chase.  Pant's ATG knock in 2022 still hurts..  He had no support..  That knock was better in quality than even Gabba.   One of the best you will ever see.  Such a shame it wasn't in a winning cause.

Pakistan has 2 test wins in SA...  Durban & Port Elizabeth 

 

India has 4 Durban,  Joburg (2006+2018),  Centurion 

 

SL has 3 Durban (2012 + 2018) PE 2018

 

Only India has test wins in Highveld among Asian teams Joburg + Centurion. 

 

So at least in Aus & SA we have edge over Poyzz

Also Saffers will pull every dirty trick to win...  Their broadcasters are notorious. 

That dubious Mayank LBW call in Centurion (didn't cost us)  but was a pre cursor to what happened in Newlands. 

Umpiring will be dodgy & Crowd will be rowdy.   It's hard to win there. 

After Shock loss vs SL they hosted them in highveld next year & won 3-0..   

Dravid botched us last time...  Hopefully he has learnt some lessons.
