Golden Era of Indian Test Cricket - 2017-23 - Transition to the next phase

Recommended Posts

Apparently, we are in the Golden era of Indian Test Cricket. Reaching 2 consecutive WTC Finals, Beating Aus in Aus twice and beating all at home.

2011-2013 we saw a transition of Fab4 out.Never imagined this to be the Golden periiod.

Kohli is back, he was still our best Test bat in the SA series. Largely due to Bumrah, Shami, Siraj is this era ushering all the wins abroad and Ashwin/jadeja at home.

The future after Rohit/Kohli looks bleak. Hopefully Gill, Jaiswal, Iyer (in India), rise up.

India prove their golden age still has plenty of kick left

We don't yet know who India's coach or captain will be after the end of the T20 World Cup in June, but we know that whoever leads the team to Australia and England will need Bumrah, Siraj and Shami fit and bowling at or close to their best for these series. Possibly one last time on a big away tour as India's next away tour will be at the end of 2026 to New Zealand.

India has to continue backing the resources instead of chopping and changing. They need to pay attention to some strategical elements. left handed batsman, left handed bowler, leg spinner, fast bowling all rounder.  Selection committee has to operate independently without inputs from team management which generally leads to biased selection.

india will never have a bad team ever again.

india has developed too much and the structure is solid.

there will be rebuilding phases here and there but will always be a top team.

we may get whooped in aus and eng this time but by the time the current crop are in late 20s will win a few.

ind and aus in cricket will never have bad teams (even eng too now).
