Gollum
Apart from Bradman, Viv came closest to 1000 in a series in England (1976?). Smith would probably have scored 1000 in 2019 Ashes if not for the concussion, which made him miss 3 innings. Also Smith in 2014-15 BGT scored 792 in 4 test series. Link to comment

I can't think of these guys survive against them with that frontfoot plonking. 2015-18 team tore apart Herath except Galle test. Kohli lorded over him, scored 600+ in 4 innings in one of the series. But in a pressure situation in the 3rd or 4th innings, they would implode against even no name spinners. But they were rarely tested because pitches in 00s were very flat so they always scored lots in the first innings. Those batsmen were the greatest players of spin ever...but pit them against our spin trio (prime versions) in the 3rd or 4th innings on non flatties...and their aura of invicinciblity against spinners would get shattered. 90s pitches were spin friendly and the likes of Sidhu, Sachin, Azhar were amazing against spin...Sachin became more circumspect in 2000s but 90s Sachin was something else, his duel with Warne in 1998 was the stuff of legend. Yes 90s team at home was gutsy. In 00s, they became phattus at home. Both teams would manhandle these English bowlers no doubt. On a side note, its unfortunate that the visiting teams never had a solid spin attack so the 90s team were never tested against good spinners bowling in tandem. Not their fault but cricket was robbed of a great battle. Edited February 26 by sensible-indian Link to comment
