Instead of winning nothing he won something. No captain has won every cup they ever participated except Aussies who as a team were too good. Our team was not good. We lost to freaking padosis in a final. That too absolute shellacking.

Dhoni could not beat SL in finals in t20 in 2014. Dhoni lost more t20 world cups than one he won as fluke. He did not sniff semifinals again till Kohli came into scene and he promptly lost that finals due to his idiotic captaincy.

You don't win 3 tournaments by fluke. We had vastly superior side both in 2019 and 2023 yet we couldn't nail it. Even in 2017 CT final we were resounding favorites. India was not a good T20 side those days.  (2010-2014) . Kohli and Raina were the only two half decent inform T20 players. Rohit, MSD, Yuvi, Gambhir, Murali Vijay  even Viru was total waste. Everyone was on the decline.

There was no Shami. Just few matches he played. We had guys like Ashok Dinda, Nehra, Irfan, Bhuvi, Praveen, Vinay.

When you have right conditions , you can win multiple tournaments. You don't need great captaincy. Dhoni was never a great captain. Was he lucky yes .

In what finals did India get conditions where Ashwin and Jadeja bowl could last two overs. He got that in 2013 finals.

His no name bowlers defended 157 in 2007 where as great Bumrah could not do anything under Rohit or Kohli.

2011 Yuvi raised his level and won him qfs not forget his bowling thruout that world cup.with both bat and ball. Indian no name bowles kept other teams from scoring 290 in any knockouts in 2011.

What was he doing in 2016 semifinals as a captain, laying eggs when Kohli fought a lone battle to score 192.

His poor captaincy cost India atleast multiple world t20 cup and his idiotic batting costed 2019 .

Kohli captained IPL for so many years. THey invested a lot of money in him. Way more than BCCI invested in Kohli. A a professional leader what did he give back to them? Zilch. If it is that easy he would have had more trophies. We do appreciate his Test captaincy. We don't call it "fluke".  By the way India's most epic series win achieved under Rahane. Not Kohli. Yet overall Kohli gets the praise for backing pacers. In the interest of appreciating one player let us put down everyone else.

Nobody cares about IPL stop bringing IPL into it. Rohit Sharma also won 5 IPL titles.

Dhoni never was great captain for India. He had backing of Srini mama otherwise he should have been kicked out long time before he was gone.

Apparently Kohli does care about it. IT doesn't matter whether we care about it or not. So he has to lead a side to win. Even Ranji Trophy win should not be insulted. Rahane led his team to Ranji win. Kohli was hailed by India for under-19 world cup win.  It reflects about your leadership. Rohit sharma won IPL titles with Malinga, Bumrah, Pollard and an army of support staff that helped him at the beginning. Even Harabhajan led Mumbai Indians to Champions league win. They spent so much money on think tank.  Wrt MSD he is the sole decision maker.  He won it.  Last season mostly retired guys. When he was captain he converted Kedar Jadhav a nobody into a bowler. He realizes the importance of 6th bowling option and balance. These are things that went way over head of guys like Kohli,Rohit.  He sure backed some wrong horses. But both Kohli and Rohit had far better resources and yet flunked it. They are way behind MSD in LOIs regardless of MSD's failures.  They are going to screw up one more ICC event this year.

Nobody is insulting Ranji or zonal trophies.IPL is not zonal cricket nor is it under 19 world cup. Your brought IPL into discussion.

Dhoni is the most lucky and overrated captain for India.

Every captain is lucky by that yardstick. IPL is a well established legitimate league that is 16 year old. Can't hide behind "It is only IPL".  Warner/Gilchrist/Warne 3 australians have won it. Gambhir won twice. One common thing was they led the side well. Kohli's building of RCB is mirror image of how he built India. Top heavy. Didn't pay attention to depth in either department. You can't seriously say Kohli was deliberately under-performing as captain in a professional league where he became a multi millionaire.

We are talking about only Indian captains. When we  talk about IPL captains you can bring IPL into it.

Dhoni shelf life ended in all formats as a captain the moment he hit that six in 2011. As it proved immediately after that world cup, his  so called great captaincy when it got exposed in West Indies in 2011 and then got totally got exposed in that England tour.He just got lucky in 2013 when everything clocked for him

. As it proved again and again till 2017 when all he did was lose the matches for India. This leech did not end his grip on Indian cricket till 2019.

This is same useless captain who even after having 600 runs against a weak NZ team refused to declare.
