Then prove it. I suppose India did the same thing in that final as we did in the group stage. So maybe Australia might have done something different. Tell me what. For a player, all matches are same, and he wants to give it his all. If you cannot counter it (you cannot), stop here.

So you defeat minnows and Pakistan and you are in the semis. After that you have to win TWO in a ROW against stronger teams, india can sometimes do one but never two. You can keep bringing the league win against Aus but in most world cup we have lost to Aus in league stage too. Reaching semis and finals is NOT an achievement in cricket with hardly any strong team. That is the point, Now you can continue to pretend to be dumb. Edited June 6, 2024 by New guy Ultimate_Game 1

Well if the same set of players have failed consistently in knockouts then it's a legitimate reason. There're data points and not opinions.

For a player, all matches are same, and he wants to give it his all. If you cannot counter it (you cannot), stop here. There's a difference between finals and normal matches. Can't believe people think a WC final has the same pressure and is the same as a group match. Final means it's "perform or perish", and you don't get a second chance. Unlike a final, group matches gives you chances and it's not "one and done". Please read up studies on how pressure impacts performance - not just in sports but in all facets. Some people are good at handling pressure while others crumble. There have been numerous studies performed regarding the same. There's one popular one where test subjects were asked to putt a golf ball 10 times and they averaged the distance from the hole. Then people were then given incentive to putt one more time and if they get the ball closer to the hole than their average, they received the prize/incentive. What researchers found was that as the incentive increased (from $10 to $100 to $1000), lesser number of people were able to beat their performance when they didn't have any incentive. This study was conducted numerous times with different test subjects. They also found a finding that while majority were impacted by pressure, there were a few whose performance saw an uptick when the incentive/pressure was higher. This is so clear when you see someone like Kohli in knockouts and IPL playoffs. Kohli has batted 12 times in IPL playoffs (and 12 is a pretty decent sample size), and he has an average in 20s with a SR in 120s. And this performance is in stark contrast to his league phase performance. It's as if you've replaced Kohli with Mandeep Singh in playoffs! If you think performances in knockouts is the same as performances in group stages, or that the pressure remains the same or that the pressure doesn't impact player performance, you're either being deliberately obtuse or you gotta do some basic reading/research. The same two players have played every single of those chokes, instead should we blame players playing for the first time? No other country fans do this, other country fans give longer rope to youngsters and hold seniors accountable, india is the only country where its the opposite. Ultimate_Game 1
Chakdephatte Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Yeah, winning group stage matches is easy, you were saying. And now, Pak lost to USA They will lose a few against them in bilaterals too. Let us laugh together first and end it with saying you guys are not much into statistics (professionally or otherwise ) and hence you will never think the same as I do.
