India has won multiple games with less than 2% probability of a win over the past month and a half

Kohli used more one dimension cricketers. Mostly they know either batting or bowling. This approach worked well in Tests where you need to have skills to bowl out the opposition team. then pile some runs. Dhoni's team was not that great in tests. But in white ball format, the all rounders are useful tool. Theycan be used according to wicket how Surya did in last match. It is gambling but where you are playing percentage cricket the chances of getting desirable results are high.

Exactly the reason majority of folks here want to see more multi-dimensional cricketers. It's not as if we don't have those as we've seen in Zim and SL. We also need to try seam bowling all-rounders such as Venky Iyer and Nitish Reddy so we've  backup for Pandya and also someone like Harshit who can actually contribute in the lower order. Need to build this type of bench strength.

Question should have been why Ind plays close matches to lower ranked team, played super over agnt Afgn and SL.

Played multiple close matches to Pak. With all due respects all these teams are not top teams.

Its Ok to play close games to teams like Aus, SA, Eng but rest should be an easy walk. Even NZ seems to be tough opponent in ICC tournaments to Ind where mostly it is not able to complete against Ind else where.

If those close matches and victories were against SA, Aus, Eng it explainable but with lower ranked teams ??? Yes t20 brings the gaps between 2 team closer but the fact is Ind still not able to figure t20s.

This  SL series too Ind is playing its top team baring Bhumrah and Kuldeep every1 is available and playing. SL was in game or in winning position in all 3 games. First game Ind just made a par score on a pitch where 225+ looked easy and SL was chasing it down at some point, second match SL score 160 they were playing good for 180 which would have given them ~90 runs to defend per DLS and the last game SL just lost it from nowhere.

IMO we need to focus on fast bowling. Siraj is not a T20 bowler. Khaleel and Avesh are not the future. We've made changes on the batting and batting & spin-allrounders but pacers and pace-allrounders is lacking. We need to go with bowlers like Harshit, Mohsin, and even Nattu who're a better fit for T20s and all-rounders like Venky Iyer and Nitish Reddy.

Posted that when TM was initially thinking of bringing Siraj in white-ball and T20is specially that he should not be considered for white-ball he lacks those skills, cutter, cunning pace changes, he was getting his wkts in test with aggression that does not work that well in T20is.

But he did rather good in Odis in absence of Bhumrah he was the best white-ball bowler in team, then his form and think fitness too declined and he is finding it hard since last 1-2 years now. Either he needs rest or some time off from white-ball.

Rana is good prospect but would consider him in Odis only, In last season he added new T20 skills but he is still a hit the deck who brings the into right hander kind of bowler.

His kind of bowling is perefect for Test cricket hit the deck, bouncy and brings the ball into RH batter, with some natural movement from the pitch some ball will leave RH batters too.

Do not want to see him going Siraj's way. Rana is good Test and Odi prospect. If you play him T20is you are bound to lose a potentially good Test and may be an ODI bowler

Problem with Siraj is he loses it under pressure and doesn't remain calm. You can see his nervous energy while he's fielding. He's a better fit in Tests but in shorter formats you want players who can keep their wits around them.

Want to see what Harshit can do and also how Nitish Reddy and even Venky Iyer respond when they're asked to bowl their full quota of overs. We gotta try them out. Enough of Avesh, Khaleel and Siraj.

3rd match a lot were rested and you have to understand bumrah-kuldeep bowl 40% of the overs. that's a lot. these two have a halo effect on the other bowlers as well.
