  • India’s domestic calendar starts with the Duleep Trophy in September
  • The Irani Trophy, Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy will also take place

In a significant move to uplift domestic cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the introduction of prize money to honour exceptional performers. This initiative is set to reward players across various levels of the domestic cricket spectrum, marking a milestone in the recognition of talent in Indian cricket. Jay Shah, the honourary BCCI secretary, confirmed the news on his social media handle.

This decision reflects the BCCI's commitment to enhancing the domestic cricket scene by providing not only a platform for young and emerging talent but also tangible rewards for their performances. The prize money will be awarded in all Women’s and Junior Cricket tournaments, including the prestigious Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for senior men’s cricket.

Jay Shah wrote, “We are introducing prize money for the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all Women’s and Junior Cricket tournaments under our Domestic Cricket Programme. Additionally, prize money will be awarded for the Player of the Match in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments for Senior Men.

“This initiative aims to recognize and reward outstanding performances in the domestic circuit. A heartfelt thank you to the Apex Council for their unwavering support in this endeavour. Together, we are fostering a more rewarding environment for our cricketers. Jai Hind.”

The introduction of the rewards is expected to boost morale and incentivise players to elevate their game. This initiative underscores the board's dedication to nurturing and celebrating cricketing talent across all levels.

India’s domestic calendar starts in September with the Duleep Trophy. It will be followed by the Irani Cup in October. The Ranji Trophy, India’s premier first-class competition, will get underway on October 11. The Syed Mushtaq Ali is scheduled to start on November 23, after which the Vijay Hazare Trophy will take place from December 21.

Kangressi and librandu will still call him nepo , biggest irony is its kangressi who keep crying inspite of having biggest moron, nincompoop nepo who wants to lead the country.

No, no, we understand, nepotism is good when your daddy does it. You are literally schizophrenic, in the same post you are blaming nepotism while celebrating nepotism in this thread.

And of course low IQ cult members like you cannot even imagine that there are people who don't worship parties or leaders like a cult. You assume everyone who doesn't worship your leader is automatically a congress or Rahul supporter

Most Indians are not in a cult and judge people by what they do and what's good for the country , instead of attaching themselves and blindly worshiping some parties and leaders. Our personalities and views and moralities are not tied with parties and leaders and don't keep changing like you losers, it's how we were brought up.

Another win for BCCI and shah.

BCCI has been having different reward schemes and salary increases for years,  almost every board president has done this

Ganguly was responsible for huge increase in domestic salary for example.
