Guys like him might be useful on rank turners that INdia offers where experienced guys like Harmer wreak havoc. Or in Pakistan guys like Noman Ali do that. Lord 1

There are only a few offies in domestic. Jain and Kotian. They went with Jain as Jain is supposedly closer to a specialist batsman than Kotian. But Kuldeep was deopped for him Even in squad Kotian had a better claim

On such tracks even young spinners will do well.

cricspirit Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Not much to see here. He will play a few tests and be history in all probability. No update over Kuldeep. Sundar is definitely better on his good days. express bowling 1

Kind of a weak endorsement don't you think? "might be useful" on rank turners? Meanwhile Harmer wreaks havoc .... Lord 1

These experienced guys who play for long know how to maintain channelf long periods and keep trying to turn. Harmer has close to 1000 wickets. On these dodgy wickets that is all you have to. They may not be good on all type of wickets. Either way it is a lose lose situation.

Nothing to endorse here. Most frontline bowlers, who do well in Ranji Trophy, are basically pretty innocuous bowlers. BCCI needs to take a hard look at how to make international type bowlers succeed in Ranji Trophy ( both pacers and spinners ). Lord 1

I do no think Saransh would have even been in conversation but for his batting performances. TM is willing to overlook mediocrity in main department.as long as they offer something in both departments. Guys like Jadeja and Ashwin emerged when we were not even looking for such players. They were good in their main trade and focused only on that and did not let us down when batting from them was required. Then Sundar took Ashwin's place. Now Sundar is out. They want to bring in a fake all rounder. Since fast bowling all rounders are rare they go for all rounders who can spin. A reason why Kuldeep's career is massively stunted. Lord 1

I don't think there is any specialist off-spinner in Indian domestic cricket who is a better bowler than Sundar, Kotian and Saransh. It's just a coincidence that all three of them can also bat. Jayant Yadav is even more mediocre and old. Jalaj Saxena is practically past his retirement age. Hrithik Shokeen is a specialist spinner but a worse red ball bowler than all these allrounders. As I said in other thread, GG preferred fake AR over Kuldeep

That's if selecting an offie is must. vvvslaxman 1

In 2000s era pitches were flatter so it produced better bowlers who had to rely on their skills only/ express bowling 1

Only reason he is backed at the age of 33 is because he can bat a bit. He is not good enough to be part of the squad purely as a bowler. This is probably his best season with bat. Why didn't saransh get picekd ahead of Sundar or Jayant yadav. Not good enough.

I'm just saying he is picked because he is the best option available currently among those who can turn the ball away from left handers. I'd have personally gone with Kotian though. express bowling 1
