We will definetly have Boom and Arsh playing all matches in future with only one of Varun/Kuldeep/Bishnoi. Parag/Reddy are also crucial for the balance as both can chip in with 2 overs in T20 easily. Bumrah is never going to play unless it is a multi nation tournament like Asia cup or WC. He is not going to play bi lateral T20 games anymore which is how it should be. He might play a few games leading up to the WC etc, thats about it. India needs to somehow find a good partner for Arshdeep in T20. I am thinking once Mayank is fit he will be the second pacer. Mohammed Shami should never play T20Is ever. He is a great ODI/Test bowler and he should stick to those formats. Pandya should strictly be a third seamer in India and possibly 4th in SENA. Bharat is not even IPl level player not sure how he made it to Ind side, patidar in t20 has been good specially hitting spinners from the crease. he is been having good domestic white-ball season too, winning matches for mp. Not bad idea to keep him in rotation in t20is check if he is intnl quality or not. He was picked out of format in tests

Jaiswal, Parag, Nitish Reddy, Venky Iyer, Ramandeep etc. We'll need to make a 3rd XI before Patidar manages to get in. tweaker 1

With high impact and blitzkrieg kind of approach in t20is, team will need back-ups so as soon as 1 part goes they hve some1 to call and fill the gap so that not all have to adjust to the change eng failed to have the kind of bench needed for their kind of game-plan now looks out of sought Edited February 3, 2025 by tapandrun
Chamsi Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 Shubman and Jaiswal should make their due return to T20s. In tough overseas conditions like England and Australia, Abhi and Sanju will not be able to compete. Inspite of Abhi's fantastic century. Anyways, Shubman is the next captain. The rest of the Xi is pretty self-explanatory. Manucrick 1

Abhi, Samson, Tilak & Jaiswal are good enough to tackle any conditions in T20. All four are better T20 batsman with outstanding range of strokes. Gill is redundant and also not a captain until T20 2026 WC. tapandrun 1

White-ball pitches are no different any where mostly good batting wkts unless some spinning wkts created. And there is no evidence to suggest gill be better option in SENA conditions In t20is he has only played in sa with 2 matches and 8 runs and in odis he has played in aus with avg-33 and sr-85 and in nz with avg-31 and sr-77. Not a big sample but nothing that suggests he will be better than any1 else his test avg is 35 after 32 tests plus he does not have any secondary skill-set. deepdynamo Posted February 4, 2025 Author Posted February 4, 2025 Next is IPL 2025 for our T20 stars. My wishlist 1) Harshit Rana to improve his batting and hopefully play at No. 8 for KKR. 2) Washington to sort out his T20 game. I hope he find his niche - maybe powerplay bowler and a decent T20 batter. 3) Mayank to be fit & firing. Please. 4) Kuldeep to find & retain his T20 mojo. 5) Parag & Nitish to have another blockbuster IPL with both bat & ball. 6) Ramandeep to get solid game time at No.6 7) Axar to develop his T20 batting further. tweaker 1

Sundar should go to Yuvi to train himself to be a hitter. HE has height. Bat swing. But he doesn't position himself. Bat also twists in his hand much like it is for Jadeja. At this point I say invest in Parag as a main stream spinner.

Do not think any proper t20 ipl side will have sndar in their 11. there is no point of playing a specialist off-spinner who can not contribute with the bat. He will struggle to complete his 4 overs most of the time, will lack power to bat at 6/7/8. No1 these days will open with an offspinner in pp, even if he gets a wkt there are more chances of him going for 20 or more runs in an over in PP. Not sure why is he so highly rated here in white-ball, in test may-be but there is kotiyan who is pushing too. If jadeja is not good he is nowhere near jadeja. Jadeja can occasionally hit 4/6, 2+ over bowler in t20s and a fielder who is more likely to get wkts with fielding than any. Sundar is slow mover. can only think of miraj (bd) who plays as specialist off-spinner and able to bowl his quota of overs but he plays on some of the most spin-friendly white-ball pitches consistently and now he has developed his batting for the condition There is huge opening for fast bowlers now if umran, sen, mayank, etc can not make a push now they will never be able to do it. Shami is almost done, they are not thinking siraj as white-ball bowler anymore, think they are finally over Avesh, mukesh, thakur now (hopefully) as tm/seelctors should know by now that these are never going to get into full-strength side and no point in investing them. Bad thing is no ipl team has picked any new faster bowler this time. Edited February 5, 2025 by tapandrun

Its like saying when the pigs will fly, any sensible t20 set-up will take anything over a specialist off-spinner, dusra is gone out of cricket, its impossible to bowl dusra without chucking and no one wants to called-out for chucking bcoz more often most bowler are chucking and going under scanner means end of the path. right now axar is better option than Sundar or any specialist off-spinner, he is not ideal no.7/8..but is okay because ind does not have any bowler who are 4/6 hitter. axar is lot better fielder, can bat 4-8 a LH. Sundar from his u-17-19 knw he can and will make it to Ind side but never worked on his batting do not think his batting has improved or he has even added 1 new shot if sundar becomes a proper batter and then can roll his arm over he could be in a t20 set-up but knowing Ind selection and thinking he will be in fringes and may be able to make it to icc events. look around how many t20 set-ups be it intnl or league or even domestics have a specialist off-spinner. Phillips (nz) was a wkt-keeper and top fielder and a hitter is nz's off-spinner, markran who hardly spins is SA off-spinning option, maxwell/short for aus, agha for pak, livingstone and ali for eng all are batters who can bowl bit of off-spin. Would say TM and selectors should push rinku and sky to bowl off-spin more often else its already looking like rinku will lose his place and non-scoring of sky is being more and more highlighted now as he is the captain and already has tag of not able to get runs aginst good bowling sides or in big matches if ind want they should try to find some legspinner who can hit some 4/6 batting 7/8/9. UP has vipraj (nt sure of exact name) but he played some good innings this season. Edited February 5, 2025 by tapandrun deepdynamo 1
