Jaddu's injury was so serious that he missed not just Gabba test but also the England home series a month later, Axar took his place there after Shahbaz Nadeem's flop performance in T1. 

 

Shami also had a long layoff after Cummins broke his elbow in Adelaide D/N test.

I would not underestimate Jaddu's fighting spirit, especially given the kind of rearguard we had mounted up to that point. I believe he would have batted with that broken hand and played 10+ overs
