Move Kohli to no.6 when we bat

With Fatman insisting on opening we cannot afford both the losers in the top 4 else we will be 3 down in no time. Preferably go in with the below line-up

Fatman

Jaiswal

KL

Sundar (Decent technique, will be a better no.4 than lolhi)

Pant

Lolhi

Jadeja

NKR

Deep

Boom

DSP

Lolhi can fluke a few runs at no.6

Our whole batting strategy seems to be to bat our specialist batter (Kohli, Rohit) as low as possible. Which begs the question - why are they in the team? If  you look at the performances, Rohli and Rohit should bat at 9 and 10 ahead of Siraj, and IMO that's what we should do to give us the best chance.

In an ideal world both the buffoons should be nowhere near the team. But this is what we have and both these guys should bat as far away from each other as possible to avoid a guaranteed collapse.

I would rather we don't collapse at all in the middle of the innings and tailenders bat together at the end. Maybe Rohit can get lucky and tonk a few and Kohli's edges evade slip fielders. Let them bat at 9 and 10 after better batters have had a chance.

or even better, have them at 10 and 11 and declare when we are 8 down. in that way, they can "protect" their averages

Now that would be funny! And Kohli fanboys like putrevus will get a chance to shout that the King carried his bat through the innings :hysterical:

It is good to see that the fanbois are still around in ICF too, because Reddit's Indian Cricket (subreddit) is full of them.

They're everywhere but at ICF the number is quite low. In public or any of the social media platforms like Reddit or X/Twitter you'll see lots of them as that's where the majority of public flocks.

Yeah, I agree. way more in Reddit/X, but there have always been some lurking around in ICF up to the time I was around regularly

Majority of Indian fans are fans of individual players and not really fans of Indian cricket team. That's the sad part and likes of putrevus and others of his ilk would rather they see a 100 from Kohli and an Indian loss than an Indian win without their star contributing. That's the reason why BCCI continues to select players who wouldn't even get into a domestic team, and that's why we underperform at intl level.

1. Rahul

2. Jaiswal

3. Rohit

4. Pant

5. Jadeja

6. NKR

7. Washington

8. Kohli

9. Akash

10. Bumrah

11. DSP

Kohli can remain not out on occasions and increase his aversge.

That's good, but I like my suggestion more, which is to have RoKo at 10 & 11, and to declare with 8 wkts down (as I wrote earlier in this thread). This will ensure that Kaiser Kohli and Fatman's avgs do not decline further.

Two changes...

1. Let Rohit open and slog the way Kontsas did. You can't play that way at no. 3 when you've just lost a wkt. Let him slog and if he gets lucky we get a few runs. Rahul can come in at 3 and play as an opener.

2. Sundar at 4 with Pant at 5. Sundar has shown technique and temperament to bat at 4 and that will help push Pant to 5 so he comes in against a relatively older ball.

Sundar scored a 150-odd at no. 3 in Ranji IIRC. Pant at 5 is also a bit high. better to send Jaddu there, who has more stickability

5 is Pant's best spot and if he gets going, you want to have enough batters around him not to be stranded.

But no matter what we're in the last chance saloon. This is the innings where batters have to show up. There's nothing much left if they lay another egg here. And it's a decent pitch so no excuses on that front either.

No, 6 is better for Pant overseas. when the ball is doing a fair bit, he needs to be kept away from it - this is why Gilly always played at 7 or 6 in Test team.
