Asia Cup 2008 Malik warns against complacency Cricinfo staff June 21, 2008 332142.jpg Shoaib Malik does not want to take things lightly in the Asia Cup © AFP Shoaib Malik, the Pakistan captain, has warned against complacency as his side gears up for the Asia Cup on the back of their triumph in the Bangladesh tri-series. "There is no doubt that the victory in Bangladesh has boosted our confidence," Malik said during a preparatory camp at the National Stadium in Karachi. "But the Asia Cup will be a different tournament altogether and we will have to start from scratch." Pakistan kick off their Asia Cup campaign with a game against Hong Kong on June 24, but Malik said his side wouldn't take things for granted. "We will work hard and give our best in each of the matches, no matter which side we are playing against in the event." Malik picked out India and Sri Lanka as the main threats to Pakistan's hopes of clinching the title for the second time in the tournament's history. "Let's not forget that India are a very dangerous team," he said. "They've beaten Australia this year and we will have to give our best to beat them. And then, we cannot take Sri Lanka lightly." Pakistan are on a high after their defeating India in the final of the Bangladesh tri-series. They turned things around after a humiliating 140-run loss against them in the league phase, after which PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf sent a stinging email to the team manager.

Complacent? Pakistan should be thanking its lucky stars that it pulled one over us in the final. We are undeniably the better team' date= by MILES.
On paper PAK had the slight edge in batting while IND had the slight edge in bowling. The only real difference between the 2 sides was MS Dhoni which he himself nullified by coming in at # 7

Praveen Kumar seems to be a fine ODI bowler and i rate him a touch higher than Tanvir. Gul and Sharma are equally good, Pathan is slightly better than Rao while Afridi is slightly ahead of Chawla.

Pagal ho gaya munde ? The only edge Pak has in batting has that they edge one too many balls.:-D
Think about it. Pakistan has strong middle order line with likes of Misbah, Younis and Yousuf. It's funny that it took 3 wickets to score 315 for Pakistan. That shows the whole picture of India bowling attack :D

India is always good on paper. India beat Pakistan in one series, but lose to Pakistan in another series. Right now, Pakistan is favorite of Asia Cup, but it's too foolish to judge which team will win. Cheer to Better team win Asia Cup :--D P.S Pakistan is hungry for more success. Asia Cup might be next for Pakistan and who know if Pakistan build winning streak, but this time against Sri Lanka and India. :--D

Hahaa...I think you get ANOTHER picture if you go back one match. 190 all out in response to 331 :giggle: India has more batting depth than Pakistan. We bat deep. If we have Irfan coming at No. 9, only extraordinary performance from the other team batting first is unachievable. For everything else, there is India's batting order. Gambhir+Sehwag+Yuvi+Dhoni+Sharma+Yusuf+Raina+Irfan>> Buttocks+Khatmal+Yusuf+Penis+Misb-aaaah+Afridi+dumbo_Malik+Tanveer+Gul-abo

You have a point there, but Dhoni(107 matches) ,Yuvi(209) and Sehwag(186) are no newbies. Also, experience doesn't matter THAT much in ODI's as in tests. But yeah, it is nice to have someone who can build innings in the 20-40 over period. and Yousuf and NOT Younis your man there.
