Vihari could have been persisted with longer. he was moved up and down the order, not given much of an extended run, played on some tough pitches, etc

Yes still Vihari averages 33 and Gill averages 35, not much difference, and Gill has played twice the number of matches as Vihari

Greatest defensive batter that I saw was the remarkable Ken Barrington. Eng never truly appreciated his full worth. Man battled mental health disorders throughout, and still came up trumps in his test career.

 

Barrington illustrated to me, as a young boy, the virtues and beauty of defensive batting.
