Boundary ropes in domestic cricket

What is up with domestic cricket these days? Saw some videos of batting in the ongoing SMAT. In all the matches, the ropes have been pushed inside by a healthy 5-7 metres. That makes a massive difference for a batsman as even most of them can easily clear it without as much power.

 

In IPL, they are 2m apart from the hoardings and we often say the boundaries are smaller. Indian grounds are small in general. How does reducing it further make any sense?

In some of the highlights, the hitting isn't even clean and yet, we see 200 breached almost every match. 

 

A debutant scored 114 this year, along with quite a few IPL failures who scored centuries this year. I wonder how much difference it makes in scoring. @Nikhil_cric

Not to mention that some of these bowling attacks are pretty average or below average..

 

It doesn't make sense at all. But IPL franchises(even historically poor ones like RCB)have generally gotten better at identifying players based on metrics that are not based on SMAT or other domestic stats alone. 

 

We have to trust that they are doing a better job and then we can pick from IPL

 

There's literally no point in looking at our domestic.

There may be some non-intnl grounds where boundaries might be small. And there are not that many 200 scores.

 

The boundaries are looking or appearing small or way far in compared to intnl because there are no boards behind the boundary and then behind those boards there is still some space for camera crew and broadcaster all the wiring goes behind those boards.

 

Are boundaries in yes may be 10 feet but not 20 feet.

 

There are a lot of Intnl and Ipl level players specially batters are playing so you will see some big scores. if those batter get going.

Amongst the batter who got tons only pasi and karan lal are not ipl or intnl level

 

every domestic board has their own t20 league player are coming through who are good at t20s so some players will be there with exceptional hitting yes may be more analysis will be done on them and opp. will find something.

Just switched on to see India SL A game. Boundary ropes are two steps from 30yrd circle. What's the point of such short boundaries ?
