All rounder? I would rather have bowler who hasnt even seen a bat before in his life, but can bowl with a bit more venom, precision and pace. When you play 4 specialist bowlers, you dont say to one of 'em ' Its O.K if you bowl crap, you are supposed to be an all-rounder anyway'. Besides, how many matches has Irfan won with all-round capabilities anyway? Long-hops outside off-stump, wide down the leg-stump.... All delivered at a hit-me pace of 115 kmph. Thats Irfan for you. Not only does he pick wickets, he doesnt even look like picking one. Just in this innings alone, there's ample proof of that. All of Ishant's and RP's wickets were of good balls and batsman playing decent strokes. Irfan's wickets were all of across the line slogs. If he makes it into the eleven for the next ODI we play, I will be terribly surprised.

Pathan in the subcontinent is not played for only his bowling abilities and perhaps if we had someone like Sreesanth he would not have played but really given a choice between the trundling of P Kumar and Irfan I would pick Irfan any day in the subcontinent. It's not like we have a host of record breaking bowlers to replace him either. He is competing with the likes of Kumar and Gony in the present squad in which his batting a fielding makes him the clear winner.

Overseas, should be included in the squad but played only if he is doing okay. Should have gone with gony cuz he couldnt hve done much worse than pathan and there was hope for better. Talking about Gony, He was only allowed to bowl if 5 or 6 overs if I am not mistaken and he did not get to bowl to tailenders or settle down nicely on his debut. and Pathans nrr when bowlign to batsmen and not tailenders in the end when sl had no hope. 5 overs: 38/0 =7.6 Amazing stats really.

No, let's not judge a bowler by his first few games and I have said that Gony has potential, but the team is playing to win the Asia Cup final not to give Gony a chance to establish himself right now. And I can safely say that someone who got killed by the likes of Kapali on this track stood zero chance against Jayasuriya etc.

Mendis ended up taking CCC as well. Though this does not negate the fact that CCC is a better batsman than many others, we cannot afford a pedestrian CCC as our fourth bowler. He can be a fifth bowler + bat.

who needs all rounders who leak runs and fail with the bat. Irfan Pathan has been hiding behind this all rounder crap for quite some time now....and also his IPL fame brother Yusuf should be dropped asap...both these guys can help their abbu with some houseold work...:-D
