Still only 24 so massive potential.

But whenever ball is on the off side he just doesn't have the same fluency. He is kinda poking. Varun, Abhishek, Tilak, Hardik are in peak form. Dube, Arshdeep, Bumrah, Rinku, Samson, Axar are okay. SKY is the only weak link. If he reaches his old self - insanely destructive team.

Good teams have figured him out, very limited player and one can't do much when you rely on behind the square area on leg side for 70% of your runs. If pitch is even a little bit two-paced, he will struggle to maintain SR of 80. I have no expectations from him. Just hope he leads well, fields/catches well, scores 16(10) type cameos consistently and gets lucky with the tosses like Finch in 21 WC. Edited January 23 by Gollum
Gollum Posted January 23 Posted January 23 My biggest fear is SKY doing a 2014 final Yuvraj in one of the big games. TM shouldn't hesitate to retire him out if he heads in that direction. Better get out in 3 balls than waste 20-30 of them.

Expect more from someone occupying such a key role. The only time he has really impressed me and justified his reputation is his 70 against RSA in the 22 WC. After 3 WCs all played when he was at the peak of his powers, one would expect more.

All i am saying is Parag atleast in t20 can do axar level bowling as axar himself is makeshift bowler. But in their lower down batting there is huge difference .

Talent, ability, ceiling ko itna bhi zyada importance mat do....in a crucial SF/F I want my guy to stand up tall when we are under the pump. Parag is unproven.

I agree axar has proven in past thats why i am not out rightly replacing him. But as we know matches are in India so we need dasher down the order.

deepdynamo Posted January 23 Posted January 23 After T20 WC 2026, next one is in Oct-Nov 2028 in Aus/NZ...thats 2.5 years, enough time to try out any combination. Also, not to forget 3 IPL will also be done during that period. For now though, backing the selected 15 to do the job this time.

If he can churn out these knocks I would be more than happy considering the form of the rest of the lineup.

Post this I expect Bumrah-Pandya-Axar to be shifted to the ODI squad for the 27 WC while newer guys will get a chance.

Axar-Pandya-Bumrah will be shifted to ODI team post this WC so plenty of spots will open up for T20 team until ODI WC 27 after which they will come back. Parag etc can take their chances then.
