Need4Speed Posted June 24 Posted June 24 (edited) Yes..I prefer tall hit the deck bowlers esp if they are 140+ they usually get something out of the pitch.. ofc a skillful bowler is a skillful bowler however now a days the pitches are getting batting friendly you need to extract whatever you can from pitch when the bowl loses its newness and pitch loses its freshness..the little extra bounce always helps.. We all are assuming here the bowlers who have built decent control.. A similar skilled avg height trundler vs a similar skilled tall bowler..the latter can be more difficult to handle.. We want to beat SENA countries in their own game in their own backyard.. Edited June 24 by Need4Speed express bowling 1
vvvslaxman Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Skill, bowling smarts , big heart will prevail eventually. 5'6" neil wagner is an example. Often took up the toughest assignment of bowling old ball into the pitch with a lot of heart. He had decent numbers in SA and Australia. He did get smith out frequently with short ball. 6'3" Unadkat although did not play Test in SENA apart from 1 test we could see him in other formats that he couldn't translate his potential. Last 10 years top 3 out of 4 fast bowlers in an away/neutral tour were from India. None of them are super tall. When it comes to India you have to look at it as a unit. Ishant was able to exploit swing more than others. Shami was able to exploit seam movement more than others. Bumrah was able to keep all kind of deliveries except may be out and out swing. If we are going to go with same type of bowlers we will have the same fate as England fast bowlers in the Ashes. Also Not all SENA countries are same, not even the balls are the same. conditions are not the same. bounce is not the same. Atmosphere is not the same.
Need4Speed Posted June 24 Posted June 24 A very Skillful bowlers picks himself automatically.. if we find a young peak Shami he cant be denied.. When we have just okayish bowlers skillwise in domestics we are lookimg for something extraa.. The tall pacers which mgmt is picking up have done well in domestics too and I dont think they are less deserving than any other top performing trundler from domestics express bowling 1

This TM have picked first Akashdeep and then Prince in search for a shorter skiddy pacer like Shami. It's a different thing that none of them have Shami's pace or seam position. But it shows that such shorter skiddy pacers won't be denied either. Mosher and Need4Speed 2
vvvslaxman Posted June 24 Posted June 24 The backspin of Jasprit bumrah is gold standard for Indians. We have to see them in action in various conditions first
