Stuart broad disagrees wobble seam is a new thing. As per him Ambrose, Walsh, Sutart clark were bowling that. Just that they didn't have a name for that. that is what i thought. May be they called scrambled seam or something like that.  I remmeber Chaminda vaas gripping the ball slanting with 3 quarterseam in his grip. Tendulkar has been drawn into false shot a few times.

Yes , it not new thing. but bowler now know how to bowl it , how to be more efficient and how to repeat it.

This is similar to reverse-swing , its not like ball was not reversing previously but teams didnot know why and how its heaping and how to repeat it.

Holding a slanted seam or scrambled seam and bowling and hoping it does something is diff than knowing what exactly it will do. so now bowler have more control and they know what they are doing

Knowing is one thing. Most of the great art in fast bowling is well known. Mastering is another hting. Mcgrath , Malinga bowling on a dime is still a thing not easy to master.

There might be many if you go all time. But if we start looking after 1970 not many. South Afiricans due to the over whelmingly favorable conditions there may be  a few.

I guess i can't find a player post 1970 that reached 100 wickets at an avge less than 20 !! Ollie will be in elite club

This was most likely legwan's last test inns.

No, they keep recycling same players.  Everyone in Pak team is a version of rahane who are just playing 1 career extending innings here and there.

He is ageing and is on steep decline.

Tink last time he toured there he was bowling off-spin

Plus Mahmud is deceptively quicker and bowls upto 135-137ks as well.

Ollie barely touches 130k on an odd occasion.

Both though are experts at wobble seam.

Next year Mahmud and BD will put up a better showing in that one off test at Lord's

His real age might be 37-38..  gets cramps as frequently as Kedar Jadhav used to get.

I think that Ghori fella who replaced him in ODIs will replace him in Birmingham
