Sachinism Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 MNS chief Raj Thackeray's arrest has triggered incidents of violence across Maharashtra. Despite heavy police deployment, MNS workers tried to block traffic in Navi Mumbai. Angry MNS activists have attacked the taxis in Parel and Mahalaxmi areas. Taxies parked at Tardeo in south Mumbai have also been damaged by some unknown miscreants who fled on motorcycles, police said. Two separate incidents were reported in the north-west suburban of Borivali where miscreants attempted to burn trucks. Miscreants attacked a toll booth located in the north-west suburban of Mulund and set one of the counters on fire, police said. There were also reports of some unidentified men throwing stones at the suburban resident of Congress spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam. Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said, "Police have made their case. We will appoint good lawyers." Meanwhile, schools in suburban Mumbai have been closed as a preventive measure following the MNS chief's arrest. Security has been tightened in the city to thwart any untoward incident, police said. Reacting sharply to his leader's arrest, MNS spokesperson Shirish Parkar said, "There was no substance in allegations against Raj Thackeray. The state government was acting at the behest of Centre". (Watch) Parkar described the arrest of Raj as "vengeance" and political "conspiracy" by the Maharashtra government. (With PTI inputs) ------------ I heard this guy Threatened to burn down Mumbai if he got arrested WTF

Most the city is busy getting to work and getting back home if they beat the traffic

Rajiv Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 ..no one cares abt Raj Thackeray, its all except his sleuths..or the poor who can be easily manipulated. The thing is living abroad and reading these breaking news, sound all zoomed but I can assure you, if you are living in mumbai this is like another story, I was there during the riots and tell u what, we hardly felt it and most of the city was playing cricket on the streets than paying attention to it The city itself is almost 40% of Canadian Population...everyone is busy with their own thing
beetle Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 It's a shame that this bloody MNS and shiv sena are not yet banned.
DomainK Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 It's a shame that this bloody MNS and shiv sena are not yet banned. They wont be banned. Thats the kind of democracy we have. The government believes that they might lose some votes if the ban Raj or Bal Thackeray. In our country, police has a face huge opposition if they shoot a terrorist that was going around planting bombs, they also have to face problems if they even touch a Raj Thackray whose everyday business is rioting. Its a hopeless situation. But Rajiv is right. I just called my cousin who is driving back to Andheri from VT. He says that its all cool. No signs of violence, full of police. Roads are empty and hence driving is a pleasure. But the goons at least got the roads empty.
suraj Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I hope the bastard is made an example of- what an idiot!!
punjabi_khota Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 He should be left in Bihar/UP for sometime.
Desi Cartman Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I hate him but I must admit that its all in his favor. Not many people knew about his party before all this and now Im sure that currently s he is more popular than Bal Thackaray
cybervickey Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 some are saying that its all a congressi conspiracy to split raj thakrey party and split the voters!
veer Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 yeahhh talked to my folks in Mumbai.. everything is alright... my aunt (NRI) was coming from dadar to santacruz.. couldnt find taxi.. so when finally she got ONE, the driver kept running over all red-lights.. when asked why.. he said otherwise we could get trapped or mght get into stone shower..roads were all clear .. the guy is a clown.. he said before arrest... ''if raj thakray goes to jail... entire Maharashra will burn'' ... the only thing burned was his behind...
THX_1138 Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 so this wont be a good time to take up a job in mumbai?
DomainK Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 so this wont be a good time to take up a job in mumbai? No risk in taking up a job at all. Unless of course the job is driving a cab/rickshaw. The MNS workers beat up the cabbies from time to time.....they dont have the guts to touch anyone else. And of course, if its a sales man's job, make sure that you shop has a Marathi signboard.:winky:

suma25 Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I thought he meant Hindi' date=' newayz its the same, isnt it ???[/quote'] n thats one of the reason why most of the marathi manoos r pissed n am not talking abt those supporting raj thackeray. they support his cause but not his methods . but he does have a pt

I was kinda shocked with her utterances really. Not suggesting violence but definitely going to a Mumbai-is-for-Marathis line of thought. The way I see it Suma, Mumbai's golden days are gone now. The next time a comparison between Mumbai-Delhi comes up you wont see folks like me stand up and shout how Mumbai is cosmopolitan while Delhi isnt. Its a thing of past. Gone. Finito. And we can thank our bhagwa brigade loony for this as they have ghettosized Mumbai post Barbri Masjid.

And we can thank our bhagwa brigade loony for this as they have ghettosized Mumbai post Barbri Masjid. ummm. i agree with her in what she said in that interview. You might look at it that way (mumbai for marathi) but what she meant was few people outside the maharshtrans have scant respect for their marathi culture and way of thinking ( that is how i look at it) She did say that mahrashtrans are also responsible for the situation they find themselves in mumbai and didnt blame all and sundry for the marathi woes and u will be surprised thats what most of the educated marathis think as well . they dont support raj's methods but they believe raj has a point and i think its true to a certain extent. Working maharashtraians feel ( iam talking only abt in mumbai) they do get raw deal. and believe maharashtrans in mumbai have been very accomodating . i will give you an example The Marathi cinema along with southern cinemas are one of the few cinemas which give stiff competition to bollywood but still marathi movies were not screened in multplexes(in mumbai)until now when the marathi film association made an issue .One of the reason why shopkeepers refused to put marathi script on their sign boards is because they felt that it might reduce their chances of getting customers. This is one of the reason given by some of the shopkeepers but hey they are ok with english because mumbai is after all a cosmopolitan city. The ghettoisation you are talking abt between exists everywhere in the country and not just mumbai so why target mumbai alone???.
