King Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Reverse sweeps in test matches, first time I have come across such arrogant stroke making. I used to think Hayden and Gilly were the most destructive. Sehwag makes Hayden look snail paced but Gilly has matched Sehwag's stroke play a few times.
King Tendulkar Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 Reverse sweeps in test matches, first time I have come across such arrogant stroke making. I would love veeru to be the original switch hitter. But I think KP was the first exponent of the switch hit in tests, even landing a few sixes. Or did KP do it only in odis?

That was in a ODI I'm sure. Sorry not the world cup must have been in a ODI at home or something. Won't be surprised if KP has done it or will do it in ODI too, he is an outrageously aggressive bat when he wants to be.
King Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Not to magnitude ( 2 triples and 2 x 250+ )and certainly not by batting at the top of the innings against Fresh as daisy strike bowleres with a brand new cherry. Big difference. Fair call S, anybody opening will be a bit circumspect. Gayle perhaps comparable to Sehwag's stroke making if not runs of course?
Bradman99 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Mike Hussey had an unbelievable run for 2-3 years where his average was around 80. Was he as good as Lara then ? No, it's similar with Sehwag he has had an unbelievable past 2 or so years but other then that he was not near Lara's level in my opinion. Lets see if he can keep going like this until his 30's, if he does then he can be considered as better than Lara. I think he is more in the Hayden bracket.

rahulrulezz Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 This is seriously a childish thread.. Both of them are in their own league... Why do we have to disrepect one...
Don Sharma Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 This is seriously a childish thread.. Both of them are in their own league... Why do we have to disrepect one... Exactly! And it is ironical people may or may not consider the nature of the pitches and the standard of the teams they played for so as to suit their argument.
99.94 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 No not better then bradman just lara. Sachin is better then bradman though Seriously King Tendulkar keep up the good work. Your posts always give me a good laugh.
Guest DeveGowda Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 This is seriously a childish thread.. Both of them are in their own league... Why do we have to disrepect one... This is BBC 606 forum culture ..you can find 100's of threads there people debating who is better... *Some mad people even compare batsman with bowlers...:hysterical:
King Tendulkar Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 Its a cricket forum. We are here to discuss cricket, what do you want discusions on weather. Comparing players has gone on in all sports for yonks. Whats the big deal! I expect all these pious hypcorites to now never participate in any comparison threads and world 11 threads etc etc:--D
99.94 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I don't care about comparing players across eras (although it is generally a pointless excercise) but you come out with some outrageous remarks mate.
Ranjha Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Dont know if he is better than Lara but he is certainly my fav Indian player-:)

Can u compare - Sehwag & Sachin...? and decide who is better ?
King Tendulkar Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 Absolutey right.. Can u compare - Sehwag & Sachin...? and decide who is better ? Thats easy. Sachin!
Guest DeveGowda Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Thats easy. Sachin! Why Not sehwag.... His batting completely demoralize Opposition and allow other to bat freely...its happened in many series in last decade...i dont think anyother batsman currently who can do that.... *Now dont start i am Sachin hater all those things...I ADMIRE his batting but Wont WORSHIP him...:)
Steyn Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I find this thread as an insult for Lara. If you want to say like you should first say Sehwag is better than Sachin. Sachin can scores thousands of runs but he cant play big innings(only 2 double) like Sehwag and in test big innings normally wins the game unless it is third or fourth innings. As effectiveness in test Sehwag outperforms Sachin. In case of Sehwag and Lara both can score big and can dominate bowler. Sehwag can do it more often but Lara also didnt wast too much time. Sehwag also more fluent in subcontinet than outside of it. He has averaged 40 in outside subcontinent while Lara showed more versatility. Another fact which also goes against is that Lara was technically sounder, classier, arrogant which also Tendulkar can claim. So final judgement should be Sehwag< Sachin and Lara In test I will put Lara above Sachin as he really lacks ability to play big innings or play decisive innings in 4th innings. But overall I will put Sachin above Lara because Sachin simply got unmatched succes in ODI.

In test I will put Lara above Sachin as he really lacks ability to play big innings or play decisive innings in 4th innings. Yeah, this must also be true even though Lara not only averages less than Tendulkar in the 4th innings and has only 2 hundreds in the 4th innings.
