Aus determined, but Kotla history backs India

It must be the hardest job in the world right now to be an Aussie expert and cover cricket, specially Indian cricket. How are you supposed to do your job when majority of billion populace country goes nuts anytime you say anything against SRT, Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman, Kumble(which effectively means 5 out of a 11 person team - almost 50%)? Nevermind the fact that the buddha brigade should have ended their career atleast 3-4 years ago on their own. That they didnt do that is simply a selfish act, and when an expert(specially a fiercly independent person like Ian) calls that aloud he is tagged as anti-Indian!! Never mind the fact that Ian Chappell is essentially supporting the young troops, Dhoni here. Many of the Indian fans have essentially made India a laughing stock of the cricketing world. As for Ian Chappell well he is the same person who once dropped his trousers en-field and came close to "mooning" Don Bradman, easily greatest Aussie player ever. He would give two hoots to Indian fans? Or Kumble..Yeah right!! Go Ian!

In the past, India have been very notorious to lose the initiative after taking a lead. Case in point, 2004 when India won the Adelaide match, they gave the initiative back to Australia. So India would need to be relentless in their pursuit. Things like history, Kumble favorite ground are bhagwash. Who-ever plays well in the first 2 days is going to win the match. Any one remember - Perth (so-called Aussies strong hold). India won comfortably in one of ozzies own backyard. Both Indian openers and Indian bowlers would need to seize initiative from the ozzies. Hayden is already targeting Zaheer Khan on how he would come aggressive. India would need to overcome the onslaught and have different plans A, B, C etc.

This is mindgames, bluster and bravado and I feel also a little bit of covering up for his approach in the second innings...opening like that was asking to get out as he might even have done first ball. But you are right...Inida have a history of sitting back and waiting for things to happen. If they show this sort of lackadaisical attitude (after Diwali celebrations and afterglow of victory)...then expect them to land up in big trouble. They need to keep the intensity up from the first ball to the last. It would help if they did not have any expensive opening spells with keystone cops fielding to drop the momentum of the side. And no unnecessary flirting with danger by the opening pair either. Well, can't wait for the match. It is shaping up to be a beauty, either way. Oz will be coming back strong, but their counter attack will be vulnerable and if broken, they will be routed.

What is with all these conspiracy theories? That too' date=' against Ian Chappell? [b']He has been constantly weighing on his opinions about Indian cricket as a whole - and he has some suggestions/criticisms (whatever they're his opinion). Everytime someone tries to make a comment about the Indian team, they're trying to "play Indians" and making them loses their focus. WTF. He cares about cricket enough to make comments about several things that are affecting world cricket today. .
Didnt Kumble recetly comment on media pressure; this from a man who has 600+ wickets and this what the first time i heard him say something. India are 1 up yet all i read about is how Dhoni should lead the side ; why dont i read anything negative about aussies.i Now lets get into the logic of what chappel said, he is suggesting a captaincy change mid series. ARE YOU NUTS to even see logic in that. So because ponting lost a test should Sunny, ravi write article on how Hussey should be made captain mid series as ponting cant hold the team and fighting will lee. Let me assure you if they did write something like that , it would be crucified in australia. But we Indians are good and seeing logic in everything so be it.

I am sorry, if you read my first post, you would notice that I disagreed that Kumble ought to be dropped as captain midseries. I never said don't disagree with him but to brush him off as someone trying to divide Indians so that Aussies can win is just not right. You have to obey his insights into the game, whether you agree with them or not - not always look for a conspiracy theory in it. About reading something negative about the Aussies, perhaps you haven't been reading articles about how Australia was utterly outplayed (the same article by a million other people). I have and its getting quite boring actually.

And I am also sure Krezja will come in for White. It does not make sense to NOT play your specialist spinner in the eleven, especially when you're 0-1 down in a test series in India. White has been almost a non-presence with the bat. My prediction is, one change for Ind ( Anil comes in for Amit) and two for Aus ( Clark and Krezja for Siddle and White)

Watching Ian Chappell commentate/write, one gets the impression that he thinks there are only two people in this world who understands cricket; Himself and Geoffrey Boycott's Mum. And thats probably why he thinks he is always right on every cricketing opinion he offers. Ian Chappell operates in binary mode. If the opposition team is even in slight trouble, it HAS to be 6 slips-2-gulleys-a short-leg sorta field. And to gusty winds to a raging forest fire, he's always more charitable in criticizing similar Aussie tactics.

Aussies turn to spin legend Bedi Sports Reporter 2008102757232001.jpgMASTER CLASS: Australia’s Cameron White gets a few tips from spin legend Bishan Singh Bedi. NEW DELHI: The lack of a quality spinner in the side has badly affected Australia on its current tour of India and the visiting team has now roped in the services of Indian spin legend Bishan Singh Bedi to sharpen the skills of its spinners Stung by the big defeat in the second Test at Mohali, the Aussie team management sought the help of Bedi and the former Indian captain obliged the tourists. Bedi was busy on Sunday helping out spinners like offie Jason Krejza, leg-spinner Cameron White and part-time spinner Simon Katich with valuable tips as the Australian team went through a practice session at the Ferozeshah Kotla. Krejza benefits Bedi spent more time with Krejza explaining him the importance of flight, loop and landing the ball on the seam. He also shared a few minutes with White sharing his ideas on flight and hitting the right areas. Bedi, who was approached by the Aussies at a function at the Australian embassy here on Saturday, however, did not go much into the details of the practice session. “We discussed cricketing things only. Australian manager (Steve Bernard) requested me to come and have a chat with them and that’s why I’m here,” he said. On what he told the two Australian spinners, Bedi said, “I didn’t teach them anything today, in fact it’s not possible to teach something in 40 minutes. We only discussed spin, flight and guiles.” Stress on confidence Assessing the two spinners, Bedi said, “Krejza is a good off-spinner and so is White. But I guess White is too quick for a leggie.” He said it was important for the visiting team that its spinners bowled with a lot of self-confidence. There is no doubt that Australia is missing spin wizard Shane Warne on this trip to India and Bedi acknowledged the fact as well. “Definitely Warne has left a huge void behind him. “Let’s see how Australia copes with that. But to be honest, you can never underestimate any Australian player.”

Bedi, what a w anker. Does this guy ever do anything for INDIAN cricketers ? He gave tips to paki spinners Tausif and Qasim before the crucial Bangalore test in '87, a test which India narrowly lost (along with the test series). In more recent times, he made Montu Panesar his protege. Now he is helping out the Aussies. All valid grounds for DEPORTATION, in my mind.
