Dirty_South Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I re-installed XP on my Desktop since then there is no audio at all . I have done this several times on different PCs,laptops,this is the first time I'm facin this issue. PS - I have installed the Drivers.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling , but still the same prob. I have the K-lite Codec pack too. Google couldn't help me What shud I do ??

vadodaravictor Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I faced this on my thinkpad few days ago. I shut it down for 10 mins and restarted it. It started working after that. Try booting some linux live CD and test out sound in that. That way you can make sure that hardware is not damaged.

ludhianvi Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 make sure power button is on :D actually, what can happen sometime is that the volume is reset to 0 everytime the system is booted in winxp. Check your volume level and see if its set to 0 if this did not help, then I am still awesome :D

rahulrulezz Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 i had the same problem.. i deleted SoundMax Digital Audio by mistake and my desktop lost the audio.. you have to reinstall the drivers... find into your motherboard number and look for that specific audio drivers on google

varun Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Check the device manager for any "Question Marked" devices (one with a yellow "?" next to them). If that includes any Audio devices, then your soundcard isn't installed.

You can probably save a ton of grief by springing for a $20 sound card(you get very decent 24bit/96khz audio, sorround sound etc for this price range).... Most peripherals these days last only about 18-24 months before dying outright...
cybervickey Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 i dont know if you have dont it already but still........ from you device manager uinstall all your sound drivers...then try use to the add new hardware wizard , when ur comp finds the new hardware , instead of letting windows automatically find the tell windows which directory to run the the drivers from.
