He played a great knock and took India home. Never denied his greatness. Only questioned his obsession for personal records. But he has the powerful Mumbai lobby and a large section in the media urging him on with that sickening lust for personal landmarks. You have the likes of Sunny, setting personal landmarks for him. 15k test runs, 100 international tons etc. May he get even morethan that. But not at an iota of compromise of team and national interests. Gambhir is our best form player - who is at his absolute best opening in tow with his mate and regular opening partner Sehwag. Here is a partnership that is going to serve India for atleast 5 more years. But we need to make space, to accomodate someone else. Thats compromise.

You say you are not obsessed with landmarks, but will be the first one to celebrate Bradman's great milestones, Pontings' amazing run for 7 years are #3, etc. Just because they want celebrate Tendulkar's milestones along with India's success, doesn't make them lesser individuals. Milestones, landmarks are part of the game, even if they are not from your fav player. Don't you feel happy if Sehwag had scored those 7 more runs to beat bradman's record?

Did you watch the press conference post the Multan win in 2004 ? Or the ruckus that was created when Dravid had to apologize to SRT and inform the media that he had settled the matter with SRT after the latter openly expressed his disappointment on missing a double ton ..and this was on a day where India's historic win should be the only thing celebrated and discussed. When you can only see things one way - everything else will seem pointless to you.

First to celebrate Bradman's milestones ? WTF..should I do that, I don't think I have ever even typed Bradman on this forum. Sehwag..is a selfless player..who deserves all the records that he gets. You can't point fingers at someone who achieves milestones with high risk shots.
