Gambit Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Dravid needs to go ASAP. Get ANYONE(Yuvi,Pujara,Badri etc) instead of him.
fineleg Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Dravid needs to go ASAP. Get ANYONE(Yuvi' date=Pujara,Badri etc) instead of him. :haha: Lulz - when you replace anyone for the class that rd has shown, it can get fugly. pujara is too raw, and yuvi instead of RD in tests is blasphemy. YS instead of SG is a different matter. Badri or some other seasoned veteran sure. I'll feel sad for RD, but if a seasoned player replaces him, then yes, I'll accept.

DomainK Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Cheteshwar Pujara in 2008 This guy should get some international exposure early.
Gambit Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 :haha: Lulz - when you replace anyone for the class that rd has shown, it can get fugly. If there is anything 'fugly' today, it's Dravid's pathetic batting. pujara is too raw, People probably said the same about Sachin when he was picked. and yuvi instead of RD in tests is blasphemy. YS instead of SG is a different matter. Badri or some other seasoned veteran sure. Any domestic batsman today, seasoned or raw, can outperform the post 2006, 'bojh' on the team' Dravid. But I don't expect a blind Dravid worshipper like you to understand all this.
fineleg Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Jo aagya devi holy, yep, Make it quick Gambit: I'm not blindly saying RD should not be replaced. All I'm saying is - You cannot just throw in "someone" to replace a person like Dravid. Now pujara is supposed to be like next Tendulkar or what? You are comparing him to saying "Thats what people said abt SRT" If anyone is blind, its certain types of folkz here who are blind (abt "God" and what not). You are thinking of RD as a deadweight, but he's still a very capable batsman. Sure, if someone is better at playing Tests then they should replace him.

If anyone is blind, its certain folkz here who are blind (abt "God" and what not). If you don't give him a chance when he is in good form then when exactly would you know ? Letting the players grind and grind in domestic circuit on flat pancakes will only create a wrong comfort zone in the players' mind a la Badrinath. I am NOT saying pujara is next SRT, but we need to start grooming youngsters into our test side. No delaying justifies that.
bharat297 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Im not saying he should be put in the national squad but you can not ignore the sheer weight of the runs he has scored recently. He deserves to be in contention though. His performances for India A (assuming he is picked) will also affect it.
bharat297 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Also remember that the best time to pick someone is when they are in form.
cowboysfan Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 all this talk is moot imo-there is no way the selectors are dropping dravid for this series unless he is injured.if he fails again then he will forced out or dropped or he may even retire.
fineleg Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 blue_brigade, Pujara certainly deserves recognition. But how? By selecting him to play for India-A. Thats due recognition. Thats the correct selection, and he is given his due chance to showcase his talent. Why are folks trying to jump the gun and "fast track" him to Tests already?

So should we stick to him just because he is Rahul Dravid, regardless of his pathetic performance? That's the kind of blind worshipping you are displaying. On what basis are you saying that he is a capable batsman? Someone who's averaging 28 in the last 23 tests/44 innings against non-minnow opposition is far from capable. His away performance in that period is even worse(avg 26). It's time others got a chance instead of Mr.Berlin Wall. And before you jump on anyone else, FYI Ganguly, VVS or Sachin never went through such a long bad patch in their careers.
DomainK Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Loads of talent no doubt. The only question that remains is whether he has already developed the right temperament for international cricket or not. Some people are born with it (Sachin). Some others learn it and develop it. I think he should be thrown into an odd test just to test him and to give him a taste of international cricket. If he shows the right signs, he might as well continue. Otherwise, he has all the time in the world.

I mean, there is a no religion policy on the site!
King Tendulkar Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 it looks like all of pujara's big scores have come on his home ground at Rajkot - where all teams have piled up mammoth scores.... Agree. Need to see more of him on other grounds piling it on. The guy seems class though
bunny Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Pujara doesn't look great to me. But, he is scoring and that's what matters. If I were the selectors, I'd pick him in the A squad (but make sure that he bats in the middle order). Regarding Dravid, he should be dropped but not permanently. To replace him my picks would be Vijay or Badri.
King Tendulkar Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 As I have repeadetly say we despearatley need an A tour to test these fellas and see who deserves the call up. As I have asked a few times, WHEN IS THE NEXT A TOUR?

This match will be played at Vadodars hence Pujara's scoring venue will be changed and the quality of bowling will be much higher. Let us see how he does there.

That will be a good barometer of his readiness for the next level. When is the next A tour? Please someone tell me:pray:
