suraj Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I here is not suraj- rather I here is each one of us; whether MM, finey, CC, BB, varun, rajeev or whoever. I have been trying to compile this post for the last 3 days- try to get my thoughts together to not just pass time to make a post ( as I used to do on cricket) but to rather be abe to contribute even 1% to solve the specific problem my country faces. I kept trying and could not finalize my post because there is so much anger yet so much compassion, so much clarity yet so much confusion, so much strength yet so much helplessness, so many thoughts yet not enough time to prioritize each one. I finally decided that I can keep waiting for that perfect post to hit home or I can express the objective and trust all of you to understans and contribute to the end goal. I promise a detailed post that expands upon the what and why of it all but I didn't want to wait any longer to the how of it. How can each one of you and me, without judging each other, just honestly make a realistic resolution to atleast assist towards a future solution to this growing menace of terrorism in Indial; it may range anywhere from contributing a $ to a poor victim to raising awareness of potential solutions to actually participating in the operations or politics of it. The key is that it has to be realistic- something that you can do in the present situation rather than something is ideal or ambitious but will never be pursued by you. I know this is quite an emotional post and maybe incomplete without explanation of why this is neccessary or what needs to be done but if you feel an ouce of sincerity in the post please reply with an honest resolution that will be followed through by you; if you don't agree with me chide me elsewhere but keep the sarcastic or funny or ideal reommendations that you cannot control out of this thread. Please PM me for questions or if making a difference for this situation really really interests you- trust me I am looking for help!
Gambit Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 We can start a website cataloguing how our country has been ravaged by terror. That website can have a comprehensive list of attacks on us, try and put as many faces to names of victims, review govt actions/inactions after those incidents and generally develop ourselves into a terrorism in India watchdog. Needless to say, we can look at raising funds for victims and urging people to be more proactive in stopping terror.

I am really going to look forward to implementing this- the network of Inidan IT folks does help that; any volunteers here are most welcome to start a website. Finey??- I know you are an IT person or anyone else here willing lets take this forward.
Gambit Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 ^^ Count me in for such a venture. You will need someone IN India for this.
Cricketics Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 gambit did you go to India gate today. there was something @ 5 o clock i heard there and also in other major cities @ topics, pretty much agree with yout thoughts. count me in. i would lovedto be involved in anything which can help my country or it's people in anything.
Guest dada_rocks Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 This is what I do : I donate heavily to ekal vidyalay ... go out of my way to support Bharatiya Sainiks and spend considerable amount of time spreading awareness about Islam thru emails and write to reputed authors and websites whenever I see something blatantly anti-India. If you start anything count me in for substantial $$ contributions and any database realted help. That Ekal vidyalay bit everyone should support.. They are doing yeoman's job
fineleg Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I contribute whatever amount I can to some organizations - I will continue to do that
THX_1138 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 What i will do: Endure, Persevere, and Forgive. You cant declare a war on terror... thats an oxymoron. you cant fight violence with violence.
THX_1138 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 That Ekal vidyalay bit everyone should support.. They are doing yeoman's job my aunt raised 2K from her temple this past summer for this measure.
talksport Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Family Planning: I will give birth to as many children as possible and raise them with good education ,values etc...
graphic23 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I can contribute in the backend if you're planning a website or something. I'm not great with writing but I can contribute something along those lines as well.
punjabi_khota Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Family Planning: I will give birth to as many children as possible and raise them with good education ,values etc... :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Aah..thats what India desperately needs. And how exactly is that planning ? You should rather not be planning.
talksport Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 ^^^ No Joke, all the while the educated are brain washed of population problems and give up on having more children , the problem lies else where. So I vow, to raise good citizens who can make a difference
3rd Man Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 There can be no immediate solution to this menace. Education and literacy are the only tools. A state like kerala with its many economic problems offers a fine example. other than very rare instances, it will be difficult to find people killing each other over religion. This is especially relevant as the state has a large muslim and christain population.

Dude, thats not really a valid example, a lot of my family is from KErala, SIMI is a very well patronized organization in Kerala, also there are unsubstantiated rumors floating around that some part of Malabar Hills are used as training ground for some Islamic radical movements etc etc. The watch dog solution is actually a very good way to increase awareness nationally and globally, and if it achieves some critical mass we could even make the government a whole lot more transparent etc etc.
triam Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 some links about what I stated http://www.rediff.com/news/2008/feb/23terror.htm
Gambit Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Those who are interested in what I wrote in post 2 regarding suraj's OP, contact me at gambit.2025@gmail.com and let's take the discussion there.
