If you read the blog, you'd see he didn't say anything against the movie. He was merely commenting on others' disappointment at the movie's portrayal of Indian slums. Thats all. It releases next Thursday or it released yesterday - I don't know which one.

triam Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Saw the movie, not impressed, maybe because I had high expectations, it is a good bollywood movie with excellent production standards etc but falls way short when compared with award winning movies. Frankly surprised it won the globes, even ARR has better movies than this one. Taare Zameen par was better I think.

veer Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I saw SM over the weekend.. and there is nothing extra-ordinary .. bollywood has been producing similar, if not better, to this quality movie every year... this is over-rated movie.. may be rare for westerners.. but we Indians have been seeing these types of movies for years .. may be they get lost in Karan Joharsk movies but they are there.

This is what AB was trying to tell (in my opinion) Yup, and he wasn't even making a concrete statement. He presented that and invited debate. The media just went berserk with it. With regards to this not being Rahman's work, I just think that he's composed so many things over the years that miles above this but he couldn't/didn't get as much recognition as it deserved (though Roja is named one of the top 10 albums of the century by Times) - so in a way (in a convoluted way), its making up for that. Plus, we Indians are obsessed about finding recognition by western people so this will be a good thing.
