amits has made up his mind on rohit sharma when the kid is just 21 years of age ... yes there is politics in the selection but ... stats aside ... rohit sharma is the best young batsman (skill wise) to have come out of india since probably sehwag. now its not just indians from mumbai that are saying that ... guys like ian chappell, geoffrey boycott, adam gilchrist and many other cricket analysts have already pegged this guy as being a very very special cricketer. amits, are they all part of the pro-Mumbai , anti-Delhi Indian politics that you keep ranting about ... or amits, do you just know more about cricket than these guys? why do you think these guys all believe rohit sharma has got incredible talent and you dont? the guy oozes talent ... like i have said many times ... ive never seen any batsman (since tendulkar) seem to have so much time to play his strokes. now ... there is a chance that this guy could make nothing out of his career (which would ONLY be because he was too lazy), however if the guy does fulfill his potential ... then believe me this guy will be our best batsman and he would have earnt that spot because he had the talent.

if rohit sharma goes to nz, then he will get some big fat 0s in front of his name in the nz series and its not just dhawan i keep talking about. i even talk about pujara & murali vijay as contenders for middle order spots. now rahane can be added to this list as well and also most of the indians who support rohit sharma r mumbai-ites or telugus. ppl from north & central india arent too supportive of rohit sharma. and its time state/origin-biasness in player support was removed

rohit sharma hasnt been given a really really long run ... remember he only started 1 year ago and he has been delivering up until about march or april this year ... its only been for about 5 or 6 months that he has been really struggling. i think he is better suited to faster, bouncier pitches where the ball comes on to the bat. he handles pace bowling very well and because he maintains a nice height when he is driving he manages to stay on top of the bounce very well. even though raina has done decently this year, i feel he is still unproven on quicker pitches.

Rahane, Pujara, Sharma, Vijay, Mukund, Parthiv.. Atleast 4 of this 6 will form the backbone of Indian sometime in the 4-6 years.

Yep ... Rohit Sharma and Murali Vijay both have a very good technique and a good range of strokes. Im not sure about Parthiv. I dont think he plays well off the front foot in front of square. I havent seen a great deal of Mukund or Rahane but their stats seem impressive. Pujara looks to be a run machine but has tapered off a bit lately (a couple more triple hundreds could seal the deal). I also think someone like Virat Kohli looks to be quite a good batsman and given a few more years could be quite a dangerous middle order bat.

Yes Kohli too. M.Vijay, for someone making his debut against an Aussie in such an important match, looked remarkably composed and compact. You gotto hand it to the selectors here. Not many people knew of him and many were surprised at his selection, but more than exceeded his expectations. Obviously, a few of the selectors have seen him play and were convinced he's a serious talent. Against lesser opposition in batsman friendly conditions, One can envisage Vijay piling it on. How he fares in alien condition, only time will tell.

Don't forget Virat Kohli, those who are predicting India's future. he has alredy shown his batting temperament in domestic cricket. He batted well and hit a century against Aussies too in the warm up game. He is a good middle order bat and handled the lankan bowlers well in sri lanka when he was promoted as opener in Lanka. In particular against Mendis, he was pretty good.. against whom most of our players struggled.

Yeah Kohli looks the goods ... Im not yet convinced about Raina. I feel he struggles against quicker bowling. However he is only 22 ... plenty of time.

Yup, I'm really glad he's recovered and playing. But I literally freaked out when I read the report in the Mumbai Mirror some time back detailing the reasons for his absence. Poor guy.
