Its a matter of when not if. I say by end of next year. We have everything to be the best and will be the best. I have been saying for years we had a top side but never said we were the best. I now say we are the best and will be shown to be the best. Brillaint opening pair, best in world Galitico middle order which includes best cricketer ever. Best keeper batsman in world cricket. Brilliant pacers whcih includes pacers with height and exponents of reverse and convential swing. Wrist spinner and leggie who will make good pairing. Also strength in depth in all positions bar keeper slot. With bucket loads of brilliant youngsters bursting to get in to team! Best skipper in WC who is also powerful figure in world cricket. Also has that midas lucky touch :--D We are on the way to be number 1. Its a new era an INDIAN era:isalute:

We are alredy no. 1 as the type of cricket we are playing we are just doing this useless catch up of points because Australia has good enough points and sitting pretty on no.1 with points they gained before. in terms of brilliance in play, India has played the best Test Cricket this year and are clearly best test team of the year for me, just that points fromt he past has made us to do this catch up work

As usual the numbers never tell the whole story in cricket. At this moment India is as good as the ozs or saffies if not better, which I think is the case.

Now that we have called off Pakistan tour..hopefully players will be recharged for the NZ tour.I always felt bad that teams like Aus,Eng etc seem to get 3-4 months off every year..and that allows their pacers to be at peak fitness consistently.Team India needs these 2 months of rest badly.Then we should be ready to conquer abroad as well.

We getting ahead of ourselves now. India has performed well in subcontinent (as per everyone's expectations). We are yet to have an impressive foreign tour. Lets admit we beat 'not so impressive' West Indians and English in their own backyard. We LOST a series to Australia in Australia (eff the Sydney test's fiasco, we should have actually drawn that game). I think we did reasonably well against the SA in SA. We have to win on consistent basis during our foreign visits, hereon. I'll recommend to start a 'countdown' thread based on our performance at the end of next year (2009). We should have a pretty good idea by then :D. Here's hoping we do become #1 side :isalute:
