Take opinions of well known refractive surgeons in your area. Ophthalmology is not my area of practice, however I have laid my opinions on LASIK (See Post # 70, Pg 2)...ultimately the decision is yours barring restrictions. Your case might not qualify for LASIK every where...depends on the clinic and if they're approved to treat such cases. Some Clinics are approved to handle up to -14 or +5 diopters .....Also you might still have to wear some form of correction (contacts or glasses) even after LASIK / PRK My opinion: Overall LASIK has the advantage over PRK - Accelerated improvement in vision and reduced trauma with LASIK - Ingrowth of epithelium cells into the corneal flap interface is a relatively uncommon complication of LASIK as oppose to PRK - LASIK is more popular with physicians and their subjects and the complications have been studied at a healthy rate compared to PRK Exception: Patients with thin Cornea or scars should be preferred for PRK as a safe alternative

Yes, I am planning inshaAllah to visit here we have an eyes special medical complex in coming few days, they have vastly experienced eye surgeons/ophthalmologists... I hope to get the most appropriate recommendation... and yes, I made some more web search about PRK/LASIK, same are the major outcomes as you told and LASIK is indeed very much widely in use...

I can see things a lot better now but also have some issues such as glaring from streetlights, car lights, tv and computer screens, fluctuating vision, close up vision isn't as good. However this is completely normal and it should settle within two weeks. It's great not having to wear glasses anymore, once these symptoms subside I'll be a very happy man.

Those signs are obviously perfectly normal as they tell us those things to happen for few days... What was your glasses # btw? So how long the whole process took? and how it all went? any painful or uncomfortable feelings etc or something like that during the actual process?

Thanks, I was -3.75 in my right eye and - 0.75 in my left eye prior to surgery. The surgery itself is ok, I was a bit nervous and was blinking a lot (yoiur eyes are clamped open but your eye muscles still do the blinking movements), the surgeon just told me to relax. I didn't feel any pain but having the clamp on and the suction was a bit uncomfortable. However each eye only takes about two minutes to do. After about half an hour to an hour the anasthetic wears off and your eyes feel gritty, like they have sand in them and you will feel some pain. I reccommend having the surgery as late in the day as possible so that you can go to sleep soon after. After sleeping, the next day the pain will have gone and you will be able to see things clearly, however you will still have a bruised eye feeling but this isn't that bad.

Ranvir Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Thanks you all for you kind words. I'm still having some issues with computer screens and lights in general. Fingers crossed that this all settles in the next week. I wouldn't worry about eyelashes going into your eyes, that's a very rare thing, and you could just blink it out.
