i am not sure how much profit BCCI would make if we tour SL. SL shud visit india if BCCI hope to recover even a small part of the losses suffered in cancellation of champions league. Pak tour might not have hurt BCCI finiancially much- hardly a couple of million dollars.

Good news..India might get NZ to play a third test before finalising SL tour: http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/india/content/current/story/385391.html

An Indian one-day series against Sri Lanka is still in the realm of speculation, the BCCI has said, and will be considered only after the board receives a response from New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on its request for adding an extra Test to the original two-Test tour schedule....

So what happened to this this speculation? Will India have 3 ODIs with Lanka in Feb or not?
Yes. Most likely India will tour SL. I would have instead called SL over for tests in India.

well BCCI is trying to make up for their losses so no way they wud have called SL for tests because right now its not creating revenue at all which is quite evident..so they wanted an ODI series and guess they will settle for it no matter where it is played..

India to play 5 ODIs in Sri Lanka next month January 13,2009 India will travel to Sri Lanka for a five-match limited overs series next month after canceling its scheduled tour of Pakistan. Sri Lanka cricket media manager Shane Fernando said the tour, including a Twenty20 match, will be played in the early weeks of February, but dates and venues are yet to be finalized. India's tour was hastily arranged after it canceled a scheduled visit to Pakistan this month. That tour was called off in the wake of the Mumbai terrorist attacks in November in which at least 164 people died. Sri Lanka has already agreed to play three one-day internationals with Pakistan starting Jan. 21, and will play two tests later in February _ to fill the gap created by India's cancellation of its tour. India's visit to Sri Lanka _ to be undertaken before its travels to New Zealand for two tests, five limited-overs internationals and a Twenty20 match _ was finalized at a meeting Sri Lankan cricket officials held with Narainswamy Srinivasan, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. After the canceling its tour to Pakistan, the Indian cricket board is seeking more fixtures for its team as its commercial revenue is linked to the number of games it plays. The BCCI's balance sheet is showing losses after two one-day internationals against England were scrapped following the Mumbai terror attacks. England went home, but later returned to India for two tests. The terror attacks also led to the postponement by a year of the inaugural edition of a potentially lucrative Twenty20 Champions League, featuring provincial teams from five nations. India has also offered to play an extra test match against New Zealand, whose cricket officials are yet to respond with a new itinerary.
