More stable than windows. Also, the people that wrote Ubuntu, they wrote it out of their own free time. They are not paid to do it.
ok, i'll give it a go but I have never been successful at burning it on a disc then installing it on partitioned hard drive

I dropped my toshiba laptop and hard drive got damaged. was lying unusable for months. Then i decided to install ubuntu.. it gave me error. Then i decided to use only 20 gb hoping it would avoid corrupted areas. Bam. it worked. I am able to use the PC with linux running on it !! Useful atleast for browsing.

I use Mint 17 - Cinnamon as a dual boot....works like a charm...no heating, very stable and does all things I need a comp for ( browse, watch videos, download torrents,etc )... Mint - Mate is also good but I prefer Cinnamon...
