fineleg
Balaji is quota player, @MiT$!? His selection soon after injury is a bit of a concern, no doubt. But just stop branding everyone as quota player. For Tests, Balaji has more ability than Praveen Kumar. The lack of longer recovery time after injury is the cause of concern here. PK needs to work on using the older ball in domestics, and then he can knock the door for a Test spot. Link to comment
flamy
we need pravin kumar. he completes the ZIP attack for india which we need in odis & tests :cantstop::cantstop: Link to comment
flamy
Gotta agree Balaji doesn't deserve the spot right now. Although, talking of PK, I think DK is essentially the same right? Link to comment

Don't base your views on what he could do 5 years earlier. Link to comment
rkt.india
But he is not very useful in test matches because he doesn't bowl well with the old ball, which is a necessity now days because bowlers don't get new ball friendly swinging condition even in New Zealand pitches have changed now Link to comment
rkt.india
but still he is better than munaf because he uses new ball excellently as i think munaf patel also is useless now. he again bowled 2 over of rubbish in yesterday's match Link to comment
amits
balaji is a quota-player, just like rohit sharma & parthiv patel pravin kumar is the 3rd best fast bowler in india & he should be the one playing the nz tests. hope he gets included in the tests after his odi performances. we need the ZIP attack in tests as well Link to comment

Don't base your views on what he could do 5 years earlier. It is in fact correct that Balaji is not in the same form as he was before his injury, but any player deserves a chance to re-prove himself after injury. He is being tried as the 3rd seamer slot and there is no harm in that. Also, he has staked a claim for the recall by performing brilliantly in the Ranji semis (I think when he took 8 wickets). He bowls good, hits sixes against Shoaib and pakis and should be prepared for the next (if forseeable) pakistan series :haha::haha::hysterical::hysterical: PK is good but why is he not being given some training/advice about moving the old ball? At the moment, for Tests - purely comparing Balaji and PK alone, Balaji may be better on ability to swing the ball in Tests. Ofcourse, if RP Singh is fit, then he should be ahead of Balaji for sure. I think Venkatesh Prasad, ZK will offer tips to PK on moving the old ball, but we'll see if he can learn from that. Link to comment
