Philip Hughes is the future

Shaun Marsh is like Yuvi...and Lara....the showboys of cricket.
Lara is very much underated when it comes to technique. People enjoy his high backlifts while failing to take notice of his defensive game.

He's got one of the most unorthodox techniques I have seen. His bat face seems to come down in all oblique angles, when it meets the ball and yet somehow, he makes decent enough contact. So, Australia right now have both their opening batsman with weird techniques. So much for the adage of the 'classical opening batsman'.

Yeah...you can't get more freaky openers than these...crab like Katich...and Hughes? How do you even begin to describe how he plays? Very ugly. Hey...ask Chanderpaul....ugliness is sometimes effective.... The crabs have come out of the sand! :haha:

Hell of a way to start his first county campaign. Twin hundreds in his first two games for Middlesex. Andrew Strauss would have been watching him most of the time and must be worried. Mike Holmans on him from his CI blog:

I also worked out how England could counter him in the Ashes, but as I explained my theory about the field to set, one of my companions spotted a rather big objection: the Laws do not actually permit a 12-3 offside field. Well, that’s a problem for later.

You see the problem, Thal? County cricket accounts for zilch. The lad did well against SA, but is struggling big time against some very formidable bowlers. It reinforces my impression that no batsman from this generation (the one after Sachin, Lara, Kallis, Ponting) deserves the sobriquet of greatness. Pietersen & Sehwag, both in their late 20s come closest, but the way Hussey has fallen away, and the new lot are shaping up, I don't see any legends in the making. The man who has the requisite temparament, I'd say would be AB DeVilliers. I have great hopes for him.

I've said this a few times; the kid's a legend in the making. Not the most classical technique, so what? Solid, assured, cool headed and mature beyond his years with a wonderful range of shots, the temperament to make runs against some of the world's best bowlers on all conditions and a fearlessness that will help him become one of the great Australian batsmen. First test century three months after his 20th birthday, in his 2nd test. There are lots more ahead.
thats a great insight. we mortals failed to see it though. what a shame... there are ppl who have made centuries in their debut innings and at a much younger age.. remember the pakistani teenagers.. where are they now? dunno what gives some ppl such huge orgasms whenever an aussie performs :banghead:

Gets undone again. It was only a matter of time before top international teams figured out the way to bowl to him and execute it properly. He's probably a goner by the end of the series to work on his game in FC cricket and understand that playing in the "V" does not mean playing between thirdman and extra cover.

To be quite frank Dhoni is the ugliest batsman i have ever watched, comparing him to class like Sachin, Ponting, Marty, Laxman - he seems like a T20 batsman. Phillip Hughes is the left handed version of Dhoni. Still Dhoni is the best odi player at the moment, his weird technique makes it pretty hard for bowlers to find a weakness
