"I've never said I want to miss a tour and there's no way I will ever miss a tour," he told the BBC. "I love touring, but there's no way I'll be without my wife for 11 weeks again." Pietersen admitted that the winter has not gone well, either for him or the team. "The first half was a shambles under my leadership. We didn't come close to winning a game in India and we didn't come close to winning a game here before we won on Sunday, except for the mathematical error on the West Indies' part in Guyana." Referring to the much-quoted remarks he made at the weekend where he said he was at the end of his tether, he said that the comments "were born from frustration". He continued: "We all want to go home, but it does not stop the commitment we all put in on a daily basis. I am absolutely 100% passionate about playing for England. I absolutely never take it for granted about wearing the three lions on my chest. "The second part of the frustration was I hadn't seen my wife since January 21. It's the longest period of time I've been away from her." He confirmed that he had asked the England management for a 48-hour break to return home between the third and fourth Tests. "We decided it probably wouldn't be a good idea for the team going forward," he said. "There were no arguments, no nonsense, no disappointment on my behalf. I have been totally supportive of everything that has happened on this tour." © Cricinfo Lol. Seems like in the process of mental disintegrating the opposition, this clown has done it to himself.

Pietersen 'willing to learn' during IPL stint Pietersen 'willing to learn' during IPL stint

London: Despite complaining of home sickness, former England skipper Kevin Pietersen is keen to take part in the Indian Premier League which he said would be a "different kettle of fish" as compared to the national team's lengthy expedition to the Caribbean. A disgruntled Pietersen wanted a two-day break from the West Indies tour and spend some time with wife Jessica Taylor in England, sparking a debate as to the South Africa-born player's commitment to the national team. However, the flamboyant right-hander claimed he was misunderstood. "It was a human emotion, I was missing my wife," Pietersen said. "I haven't seen my wife since January 21st - the longest I've been away from my wife. "I might have been a little bit too honest or I didn't explain myself as properly as I would have liked to have done last week. I don't think I was wrong in anything I said, it just didn't come across the way I would have liked," the 28-year-old told Sky Sports. He also insisted that IPL would be a different ball game and will be primed to take to the field for Bangalore Royal Challengers after spending a week with his wife. "What happens in two weeks (the IPL) is a totally different kettle of fish and that's the difference. I'm going to spend a week at home with my wife and then go back to business," said Pietersen, who along with fellow England star Andrew Flintoff, became the highest paid player in the IPL, worth $1.55 million. The former England skipper reiterated that IPL would provide him a lot of scope to learn. "I've always said that I'm willing to learn and I will learn in the IPL, playing with some of the best players in the world. I am going to South Africa to learn. "I want to be the best person I can possibly be and the best player I can possibly be, which helps England and that's what all the players want to do," he said.

All these people complaining and moaning about the life on tour once again shows how great Sach is.. Twenty bloody long years he has been doing this.. Not one, not two or four.. TWENTY..! And yet, it’s the same commitment, same hard-work, same focus…:isalute:

And with far more pressure/expectations/media scrutiny than Pietersen's ever been exposed to (except maybe in his debut series, where some of the South African crowd were literally wanting to see blood). Goes on massively long travelling schedules, used to deal with far more backroom politics back in the 90s, constantly gets idiots from the media asking him stupid things like when he'll retire and how long he plans to stay around for... and yet goes on with it without ever complaining. (And of course, without making public statements calling teammates unfit and unprofessional, or demanding a new coach to work with...) We're comparing the epitome of class here with the epitome of crass.

He does have a point. Tour schedules and cramped calenders are a mess. It wont be long before cricketers are going to burn out and retire from one form of the game before 30. With all that said, KP is still a tool. He's about as endearing as a used tampon.

It's not like these calenders have suddenly become long and massive now, or that tours take ages. Even 10 years ago, teams would hop all over the world playing ODIous tournaments in Sharjah, Morocco, Kenya, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, then drop somewhere for a test series, fly back home for their own season, etc... And 11 week tours these days are exceptions - besides the 5 test WI/Eng series, Eng/SA (which are being clipped to 4 tests now :banghead: ) and the Ashes, there aren't that many. Big change from older days when a tour could take up an entire season - England's Ashes tour in 74/75, for a random example, started with them leaving in late October, playing a slew of first class games in Aus throughout November, and then playing tests mixed with FC games until mid February.
